CHAPTER 32: The Pouring Rain
"THIS IS FUCKING corny," Calyx said as he looked at the red balloons scattered on the floor of the tree house before throwing Alpha Karius his disgusting expression. Goodness. He never knew that a time would come that he would be doing this right now. He's known for being the strongest warrior next to the Alpha and here he is... fixing these red and shiny balloons while Alpha Karius is glaring at him.
Alpha Karius just shook his head. "Can you just do your work quickly? Just blow the fucking balloons and put it there. I swear, if those would pop, I will fucking castrate you," he said with his most threatening tone as he pointed the balloons on the newly painted walls of the tree house.
He has been preserving the tree house for a long time now. He painted the walls and changed the wood to a stronger one to make sure that it's in very good condition. He also changed the roof to a new one and extended it and placed a small table where he put the picture frame with his picture with Lilian at the top of it. He changed the windows into glass, making them view the beauty of nature in front of them. He had been cleaning the tree house regularly, making sure that the things in here are still good to use.
He wanted to show these all to Lilian. He did these all for her. This place is so close to his heart because this was their meeting place before, the only place that witnessed their love for each other.
"Why do you even need to do this on your birthday? You can just celebrate it with the pups again like what you did the last time," Calyx replied as he followed what Alpha Karius instructed him to do. He blows the balloons and uses it as a design at the edges of the wall while Alpha Karius is busy on the lights.
Today is Alpha Karius' birthday and like what Calyx said, he celebrated it with the pups before since Lilian is still not with him before because they thought that she's already dead. He wanted to celebrate his special day now with Lilian. His wish on his previous birthday came true. He wished that Lilian would come back to him and the Goddess must've heard all his prayer because he granted it now.
But he somehow couldn't help but to feel sad knowing that Lilian had forgotten about his special day. She's been avoiding him for days now and it hurts him everytime she would just talk to her coldly. When will the warm Lilian come back to him? He sighed.
"Have you informed one of the helpers in the mansion to relay my message to my Luna?" Alpha Karius asked, suddenly remembering about it.
"Yeah. But you know... I'm just worrying about something, Alpha Karius."
"What is it?" Alpha Karius' brows furrowed in confusion.
Calyx sighed heavily. "Nevermind. Let's just continue designing your very own tree house." He slightly shook his head and continued what he's doing.
Calyx brushed away the idea in his mind. He's really having a bad feeling about this but he chose to just ignore it since Alpha Karius seemed to enjoy his day. There's a small smirk on his lips as they both decorated the tree house which they are not really used to doing ever since before. Alpha Karius really made an effort to make these all things possible.
Calyx actually suggested to Alpha Karius to just call some wolves to do the decorations here instead but he did it all personally with him since he doesn't want anyone that would just step inside here. This tree house is really a sacred place for him. He doesn't want anyone to enter this place just like that but of course, Calyx is an exemption.
Even if he doesn't want to say it in front of Alpha Karius, Calyx is really worried that Lilian might not come later. He saw how he avoided Alpha Karius the past few days and he can't really help but to think negatively about it.
"What about the food, Calyx? The pastry shop where I ordered the cake? Is it all fine now?" Alpha Karius asked Calyx worriedly.
"It's all fine now. I will go there later to get the cake."
Alpha Karius just nodded his head, feeling thankful that Calyx is here with him right now. On his previous birthday, he chose to celebrate it with the pups when the school was still newly built at that time. And since Lilian is here now, he wanted to celebrate his birthday with her. He wanted to make everything perfect this time.
Moments later, Calyx and Alpha Karius were done decorating the whole tree house. Alpha Karius smiled, feeling satisfied with the outcome of what they did. For a first timer, the decoration that they did was nice.
"Aren't you going to eat your lunch first?" Calyx asked him. "C'mon, Alpha. Let's get out here for a bit. I'm starving."
Alpha Karius shook his head. "I'm not yet hungry. You can go if you want and besides, I can't leave the place. The balloons might pop and no one would be able to see to change it if I leave."
"Yeah. Thank you for your help on this, Calyx," Alpha Karius said sincerely to him as he tapped his shoulder lightly. Of course, this won't all be possible without him. Calyx was the one who fixed the electricity here so the lights that the Alpha Karius put around the tree house are working.
"No problem, Alpha." Calyx shrugged his shoulders. "I gotta go now."
Alpha Karius just nodded his head. Meanwhile, Calyx already informed the helper in the mansion to fetch Lilian to go to the meeting place. So, he's now free to rest for this day since his work is done.
As soon as Calyx entered his house, he sat on his sofa and sighed deeply with his thought that Alpha Karius is indeed willing to do everything for his mate, even the corniest thing. He doesn't see him as being like that. He hasn't found his mate yet so he's not sure if he will be like that in the future too.
Moments later, the cold breeze of the air entered from the windows of his house. His brows furrowed. It looks like it would rain, too. He shrugged his shoulders and decided to close the windows. Maybe Alpha Karius is already enjoying his time with his Luna at this moment. He's happy for him and just shrugged off the negative idea in his mind. He shouldn't think negatively about Lilian from now on since he's now their new and real Luna. Alpha Karius already claimed and marked her.
On the other hand, Alpha Karius couldn't help but to feel anxious when the rain suddenly started to pour as he paced back and forth. Time passes by quickly. He didn't notice the time anymore, getting worried because of the rain that suddenly poured.
"Where is she now?" He asked, talking to himself when the rain started pouring hard as the wind blew the balloons that he decorated. He couldn't help but to feel worried about Lilian. If ever Lilian is on her way here now, he's probably stuck now somewhere! The pouring rain is so heavy and the strong breeze of the wind is getting more dangerous since he could see how the trees moved harshly from the glass window. "Fuck!" He cursed when he remembered the lights he surrounded the tree trunks earlier.
He decided to go down to just remove it, not noticing that he's already wet and drenched from the rain. He removed it even though it's against his will. While doing all the work, his thoughts are just on Lilian and how she is now.
But on the other side of his brain, it was telling him that Lilian just ditched him but his heart refused to believe it. He never knew that his birthday would be really this sad because Lilian didn't come to see him on his special day.
He stood there waiting for her to meet him under the pouring rain.
