The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1930

Once the nurse was gone, Roger chuckled at Stella, who was still frozen in place. "Of course, if you don't want to help, I can just walk there myself."

With that, he threw off the blankets and moved to get out of bed.

But he purposely made his movements jerky and exaggerated, pretending to pull the wound on his lower back, and staggered forward.

"Careful!" Stella's face paled. She darted forward without a second thought, catching him securely in her arms. "Did you tear your stitches?"

"I'm fine," Roger said, letting her hold him. They were pressed flush against each other, close enough for him to admire every detail of her face. He smirked. "The wound doesn't hurt too much, but you're holding me a little tight."

Stella snapped back to reality, her cheeks flushing crimson. This was the first time she had ever willingly initiated physical contact with a man. And surprisingly, Roger was the only man who didn't trigger her trauma.

"Sorry." Stella bit her lip, instinctively trying to step back, but Roger simply wrapped his arm tighter around her.

"Don't let go," he murmured. He rested his left hand on her shoulder, leaning a good portion of his weight against her. His warm breath brushed against her cheek. "Let's go."

Stella pursed her lips. Seeing how pale he looked, she didn't argue. She carefully supported his weight as they slowly made their way down the hall to the CT room.

The CT room was strictly for patients, so visitors weren't allowed inside. Worried that he would tear his stitches walking alone, Stella was just about to ask the technician to help him.

But suddenly, the man "leaning" heavily on her stood up perfectly straight. He ruffled her hair affectionately and said softly, "Wait out here. Don't wander off. I'll be right out."

With that, he placed a hand on his lower back and strolled casually into the room.

Stella stood there, her brow twitching. Did that look like a man who needed to be carried? He did that on purpose!

She rolled her eyes but hugged his jacket to her chest and obediently sat in the waiting chair. The exhaustion from the past two days finally caught up to her. As her adrenaline crashed, she drifted into a deep sleep right there in the chair.
