“A coup?”
Allanson didn’t flinch at Aloys’s words. Even at his age, he still radiated authority, his eyes burning with anger as he stared at his son. “You really think you can pull this off?”
“You’ve always thought I’d never measure up to Franco.” Aloys didn’t move, but he glanced at the foreign bosses in the room. “But today, the son you never believed in is going to take your place as heir of the Isle of Veil.”
He let the words hang in the air. Around the room, two-thirds of the visiting leaders exchanged looks before standing up and moving behind Aloys, making it clear where their loyalty now lay.
Everyone could see where this was going.
With most of the power shifting to Aloys, he now controlled a solid majority of the Hawk Family. On top of that, he’d let it slip he had the Churchill Family on his side. The two biggest forces on the Isle were working together. Solenia, N Organization, and X Organization had only sent a handful of people. If things actually turned violent, Charlotte’s people would be massively outnumbered.
The truth was obvious—Aloys was about to become the next head of the Hawk Family.
Right then, a wave of bodyguards poured in from every entrance, locking down the entire hall. Guns were drawn on all sides, the tension rising to a whole new level.
“Franco, let’s make a deal.” Aloys looked over at Charlotte and her group, now surrounded. His eyes grew cold, a faint, cruel smile tugging at his lips. “Kill Allanson for me, and maybe I’ll hand over the antidote. Maybe I’ll let Charlotte live.”
He needed her alive anyway, for the genetic experiments.
For a second, the whole room fell into shocked silence.
He wanted Franco to kill Allanson? That would not only get rid of his father but pin the blame for patricide on Franco, too. It was a ruthless move, no doubt.
“I’ll give you five minutes to decide.”
