Patricia was sitting in her wheelchair, digging her nails into her palms, as she watched Ellinor being called away by old Mr. Bagley to his study.

Just then, Byran wormed his way through the crowd, his face a picture of confusion. "Patricia, why are you in a wheelchair? Haillie, what the heck happened?"

He'd been hiding out in a side room, playing mobile games with a few friends, to avoid running into Balfour because he was afraid he'd be grilled about his schoolwork. When he finally came out, he saw everyone gathered around, but he was clueless about what was going on.

Still fuming from what had just transpired, Haillie spat out, "It's all because of that bitch Ellinor! She purposely pushed Patricia down the stairs and sprained her ankle. Who the hell invited her here today?"

Byran looked skeptical, "No way! Ellinor would never do such a thing! Haillie, don't talk nonsense!"

As he said this, Patricia looked up at Byran, her heart sunk further and her eyes were filled with an unprecedented darkness.

Byran had never seen his usually gentle and obedient sister with such a fierce and gloomy expression. He was taken aback, "Patricia, what's wrong?"

Haillie snapped, "Byran, what do you mean by 'nonsense'? I saw it with my own eyes. Are you suggesting I'm making it up and framing Ellinor?"

Byran was dismissive, "Haillie, it's not like you haven't framed her before. I just don't get why you're always picking on Ellinor; she hasn't done anything to provoke you."

Haillie was fuming, "Byran, you're clearly brainwashed by Ellinor's sweet talk!"

Byran was peeved, "No way! I'm not an idiot! I just think Ellinor isn't that malicious or bored to push Patricia down the stairs in front of you.

If she really wanted to hurt Patricia, she would have done it behind everyone's back. Why would she leave a witness?

"Dear relatives and friends, welcome to my birthday celebration. I have some happy news to share with you all!

This young lady beside me, Ms. Mendoza, will be joining the Bagley family. My wife and I have decided to adopt her as our granddaughter!"

The crowd gasped; no one saw this coming.
