For a man who decided to never harm a woman, Sophia had pushed him to his limits. She had done too much, so he had to intervene. He couldn’t let her cause Ellinor any more pain.
Everything spiraled out of control. It had reached the point of no return.
Having lost everything, she couldn't bear the sight of them living happily together. "Then let's all go to hell together!"
While Theo was checking Ellinor for any injuries, Sophia suddenly pulled out a flask from her pocket, which was the size of a small soda can and filled with some unknown liquid. With a roar, she unscrewed the cap and flung it at Ellinor.
Theo realized it was too late to dodge and instead wrapped Ellinor in his arms, shielding her as they tumbled down the stairs.
The liquid Sophia splashed created horrifying white bubbles where it hit the ground.
After missing the first time, she grabbed the half-full flask and rushed down the stairs to try again.
Suddenly!
BANG!
A door in the stairwell was kicked open, and the police burst in just in time to apprehend Sophia.
"Freeze! Don't move!"
"Hand over what's in your hand!"
"You're under arrest!"
After a frightening ordeal, Theo slowly got up, revealing Ellinor, whom he'd been protecting in his arms. "Are you okay?"
Ellinor was also shaken. She was dripping with cold sweat. She had anticipated Sophia's attack but never imagined she would pull out sulfuric acid in a public hospital.
Without a word, she grabbed Theo's arm and rushed him to the emergency room.
Despite Theo's assurances that he was fine, he had no choice but to follow her.
In the ER.
After the doctors had cleaned and treated the burn wound on Theo's arm, Ellinor finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Poor thing; his leg had just healed, and now his arm was injured. Burns were incredibly painful.
While looking at the wound on his arm, tears silently rolled down her cheeks.
Theo's clothes, corroded by the acid, were no longer wearable, so the doctors gave him a hospital gown to wear in the meantime. As he was buttoning it up, he felt something wet drop onto his hand.
