The Kiss that Sparked it All novel Chapter 1588

Marcus was at a loss for words.

He hadn't been seduced away. He simply couldn't recall his past, so he couldn't remember her.

Ellinor was really about to leave. As her hand rested on the doorknob again, a sudden commotion outside halted her.

Sophia entered the room.

"Tristan, why are you standing at the bathroom door? Where's dad?”

Adrian's voice sounded a bit unnatural. “Dad... he's taking a shower!”

Sophia chastised the child. “Why are you standing here while your dad's in the shower? Why aren’t you helping him? You know he has a hard time moving around.”

Adrian blinked. “Dad said he didn't need help and told me to stay out here. I'm staying close in case he needs me for something.”

Sophia found this odd but chose not to press further. She walked over to the bathroom door and knocked gently. “Marcus, are you in the shower?”

Inside the bathroom, Ellinor had silently slipped behind the door. If Sophia were to suddenly walk in, she wouldn't immediately see her.

The bathroom door wasn't locked. If they were to lock it now, it would arouse Sophia's suspicions. They could only hope Sophia wouldn't open the door.

There were no windows in the bathroom, leaving Ellinor without an escape route.

Marcus and Ellinor exchanged glances, responding to Sophia's question with unnerving calmness. “Yes, what's up?”

Sophia stood outside the door. “Nothing important. I bought you a new pair of pajamas a few days ago and forgot to give them to you. I just found them in the closet, so wear them after your shower today.”

“Thanks. Just leave them on the bed. I'll put them on after I finish my shower.”

Sophia turned to place the pajamas on the bed, glancing back at the bathroom door one last time before leaving.

Once Sophia had left, Adrian let out a sigh of relief. That was too close!

Mommy was almost discovered.

Inside the bathroom, Ellinor and Marcus also breathed sighs of relief. They had narrowly avoided disaster.

Ellinor shot Marcus a look. “She's quite good to you. She even buys you clothes.”

Marcus gazed back at her. “If you don't like it, I won't wear it.”

Ellinor didn't like it, but she wasn't so willful as to ignore the situation. “Never mind, just wear it! If you don't, it might arouse her suspicions. I'm leaving now.”
