"Why are you crying?" Sophia grumbled at the weepy figure sprawled on the ground. She looked up to see that it was none other than Tristan.
"Ouch, it hurts." Tristan grimaced as he clutched his scraped knee.
Sophia was puzzled. When did Tristan join her outside?
Wait, even if Tristan had followed her out, how had he managed to collide with her head-on?
Rubbing her twisted ankle, Sophia got up. "Tristan, where did you go? How did you come from that direction?"
The child who bumped into Sophia was indeed Tristan.
Tristan had just rushed out of the restroom, fearful of being caught by his brother, Baber, and Quinton. His hurried steps led him straight into Sophia.
Caught off guard by Sophia’s question, the little boy's cry hitched. He looked guilty, unsure of how to explain himself, and blurted out the truth. "I... I just came from the restroom."
Sophia was taken aback. Had Tristan gone to the restroom?
But she was sure she had been the first to leave to use the restroom. She hadn't seen Tristan pass her to get there first.
Sophia looked around in confusion. She peered ahead, then back.
The restroom could indeed be reached from the other direction around the courtyard. Could the child have run that fast?
He had actually circled around?
Tristan, still in pain from the fall, couldn’t stop his tears. "I want Daddy..."
The auction house was eerily quiet, and the child's cries were piercingly loud. He drew curious glances from all those around. The situation was quite awkward.
Tristan didn't understand what his father meant. He had just now seen his father. When did he say he wanted to apologize to Sophia? And why should he apologize?
Furthermore, he didn't come home all last night. Wasn't his father worried?
Sophia, having heard the conversation between Marcus and Tristan, asked, "Marcus, are you saying that Tristan chased after me to apologize?"
Marcus looked up at Sophia. His expression confirmed the answer. "After you left, I reprimanded him a bit. He realized his mistake and said he wanted to apologize to you."
So that was it.
Sophia had initially found it strange that Tristan had run headlong into her. But after hearing Marcus’s explanation, it seemed plausible.
Tristan had run out to find her, took a wrong turn, circled around, and bumped into her again.
