The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 537

"I was backed into a corner," Hillary said, her hands trembling. "Only my sister's family tried to help, but they had no power over the corporate side of things. Sullivan, desperate to force me out, didn't hesitate to sabotage the company's interests and pin the blame entirely on me. He told the board I was incompetent and that my leadership would drive the business into bankruptcy. He brainwashed the executives and aggressively bought up shares until he was the largest stakeholder outside of Hayes and myself. He controlled the entire board. Under that suffocating pressure, I finally caved and gave up the chairman's seat."

She clenched her fists so tightly her knuckles turned white. If Sullivan were standing in front of her right now, she would gladly put a knife through his chest.

"After I stepped down, he wasn't grateful. He became completely unhinged, parading around and declaring that the era of Hayes and Hillary was dead. He said the company was his right. He even had the nerve to say Hayes was 'lucky' he didn't die on impact in such a horrific crash."

"That was when I knew. I confronted him, asked him point-blank if he orchestrated the accident. He didn't even bother denying it. He just laughed in my face, telling me that even if I knew the truth, I could never prove it, because no one was investigating the case anymore."

Joseph and Vivica exchanged a dark look.

It all made sickening sense. It was never an accident.

Sullivan had been driven to pure madness by his lust for power.

"It was the same with you, Vivica," Hillary said, her voice cracking. "If Sullivan hadn't constantly manipulated things behind the scenes, pressuring Hayes, calling him ungrateful and a disgrace to our ancestors, that wicked old woman would never have been so arrogant. She lost my baby and refused to admit any wrongdoing, crying and screaming that we were trying to drive her to an early grave. She only dared to act so monstrously because her eldest son was backing her."

Vivica's breath hitched. Her grip on her silverware tightened as a cold wave of realization washed over her.

Joseph frowned deeply.
