Vivica looked at him and suddenly detected a hint of jealousy in his tone. That was certainly new.
“Are you… by any chance, feeling jealous?” she asked cautiously.
Jealousy was an emotion that usually blossomed between two people in love. It seemed he really was starting to develop feelings for her.
Joseph didn’t deny it. Instead, he took a sip of water and abruptly changed the subject. “By the way, Harvey got back to me this morning. There’s one—and only one—opening in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Pivot Hospital. The competition is fierce, though. A lot of people want it.”
Vivica was taken aback. “You have news already? Harvey works incredibly fast!”
Joseph shot her a look, seemingly displeased by her enthusiastic praise for another man. “Didn't Ms. Christie exchange contact information with Harvey when we all had dinner? Have her get in touch with him directly to see what materials she needs to prepare. She should get on it quickly.”
Vivica nodded eagerly. “Okay, I’ll tell Quintina right now!”
She immediately picked up her phone to call her best friend. “Hey, Quintina.”
On the other end, Quintina Christie had just finished her morning clinic hours. She had been so busy she hadn't even had time for a sip of water, and her voice sounded weak. “Vivica, what’s up…?”
“Great news! Harvey said there’s an opening in the OB-GYN department at Pivot Hospital, but there’s only one spot! You should contact him right away to find out what you need to prepare and submit it as soon as possible.”
“Really? What a coincidence!” Quintina’s energy returned in a flash, her voice jumping an octave. “That’s fantastic! I’ll contact Harvey right away and get everything ready.”
“Good.”
“Vivica, thank you so much! And thank your husband for me! Whether this works out or not, I owe you both dinner sometime.” Quintina was ecstatic and genuinely wanted to show her gratitude.
