"Zavier, let's have lunch with Mr. Smith today. I'll send you the restaurant address in a minute."
She had seized the initiative, her expression confident and at ease.
Zavier looked at her, surprised. Just yesterday she had been so evasive and resistant, and now she was taking charge.
"Alright, it's great that you're willing to meet," he nodded.
"It's settled then. I'll book a table and send you the details."
With a nod, Vivica left his office.
Zavier frowned thoughtfully for a moment, then took out his phone to message Raymond.
Back at her desk, Vivica found a restaurant some distance from the office and called to make a reservation. She chose a farther location to keep Evelyn at a distance; her adoptive mother didn't know where she worked yet, or she wouldn't have been staking out the hospital.
Of course, Fletcher knew, so Evelyn could find out if she really tried, but Vivica wanted to keep it under wraps for as long as possible.
After booking the table, Vivica contacted Evelyn and told her not to show up looking like a mess.
The morning was busy, leaving her little time to dwell on things. As noon approached and her workload eased, she glanced at Zavier's office. He had colleagues in there with him, so it seemed he wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. She gathered her things and left a little early.
When she arrived at the restaurant, Evelyn was already there. They met, and Vivica noted that she was dressed more presentably than the day before, though the bruises on her face were another story.
