The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 311

She didn’t dare meet his eyes. After finishing her sentence, she tried to slip out of his embrace and head for the walk-in closet.

But Joseph’s arm tightened, pulling her back against him. “What’s the rush? It’s still early. Why don’t you take a nap and… test out my bed?”

“No, I don’t need to!” Vivica refused immediately. “I slept well last night, I’m not tired. You must have a lot of clothes, we should get started on packing…”

Joseph just smiled, clearly enjoying her flustered attempts to deflect. “You were so bold at lunch. What happened? Back to being shy and timid already?”

He teased her in a low voice, his tall frame leaning down until his forehead was nearly touching hers.

“You’re already here, and no one can disturb us. So, how about…” he whispered seductively, his lips brushing against the side of her face.

Her skin was fair and delicate, and up close, he could smell a sweet fragrance coming from her, like a ripe peach on a branch. Joseph was beginning to understand Harvey’s advice. Women weren’t the complete hassle and burden he’d once imagined. They could be warm, fragrant, and utterly addictive.

Vivica could feel the heat of his breath on her cheek, and every hair on her body seemed to stand on end. She trembled slightly, tilting her head to avoid his touch. But Joseph was like a cat toying with a mouse. The more she pulled away, the closer he moved.

“Why are you hiding?” he murmured, his lips pressing a soft kiss to her cheek.

A shiver ran down her spine.

“Are you that scared?” he continued to tease.

Vivica’s tongue felt tied. She swallowed hard before finally daring to look up at him. “It’s… it’s the middle of the day… The curtains aren’t even closed. Please… don’t be like this…”

“We’re too high up for anyone to see,” Joseph said, his eyes crinkling with amusement. His gaze was so deep and intense it felt like it could melt her.
