The coffee shop was crowded, and Fletcher's sudden outburst drew the attention of everyone around them.
Vivica’s face hardened. She tried to yank her arm away, but his grip was like iron. "Fletcher, don't make me slap you," she hissed under her breath.
But Fletcher didn't seem to care. Not only did he not care, he pulled her hand up and slammed it against his own cheek.
"Go ahead, Vivica, slap me! Slap me as hard as you can. I'm the one who hurt you, the one who wronged you. As long as you forgive me, you can do whatever you want."
"Let go of me, Fletcher! The thought of you touching me makes my skin crawl. How could I ever get back together with you?"
Disgust was written all over Vivica's face as she struggled, but Fletcher held on tight, repeatedly forcing her hand against his face.
An onlooker commented, "That woman is so cold-hearted. Her husband swallowed his pride to beg her to come back, and she won't even give him the time of day."
But another woman retorted, "It’s obvious the man was the one who messed up. Now that he regrets it, he comes crawling back with some fake apology. Why is it that when a man says sorry, a woman is just expected to accept it?"
Vivica couldn't have agreed more. She looked at Fletcher and said, "See? Even strangers can see right through you. Do you really think I'd believe a word you say?"
"You can believe me, Vivica! I've completely turned over a new leaf this time," Fletcher pleaded, refusing to let go.
Vivica struggled so hard her wrist turned red, but she still couldn't break free. In a fit of rage, she grabbed a cup of coffee from a nearby table and flung its contents in his face. A collective gasp went through the crowd, followed by even louder murmurs.
The hot liquid made Fletcher instinctively flinch, and his grip loosened. Vivica seized the opportunity to escape.
