Melanie let go of her hand and pulled a small photograph of her younger son from her pocket. "Look, this is Lennon. Do you know him?"

Vivica was confused at first, but seeing the picture of Lennon Baird and the joyful excitement on Melanie’s face, everything suddenly clicked. Her heart pounded in her chest. "Mrs. Baird," she asked softly, feeling a wave of embarrassment, "you… you know?"

"Joseph?" Melanie exclaimed. "You mean, Joseph knew all along?"

"It wasn't him who told you?" Vivica asked, surprised. "Then how did you find out?"

Melanie hesitated, a guilty look on her face. "Well… Sheridan and I thought Chaim looked so much like Lennon, and we had our suspicions. So… without telling you, we had a DNA test done with Chaim."

Vivica’s brow furrowed sharply. So that's how it happened.

"Vivica, I know what we did was wrong," Melanie said quickly, seeing the frown on Vivica's face. She thought Vivica was angry and rushed to apologize and reassure her. "But now that we know the child is a Baird, we will absolutely take responsibility for you and him."
