Perhaps her biological parents had abandoned her too, and that’s why they never tried to find her. Vivica’s thoughts swirled in a confusing haze.
Quintina’s voice, sharp with anger, cut through her reverie. “Even if the test proves they’re your biological parents, you can’t go soft on them! They’re a bottomless pit. Even if you were a billionaire, it wouldn’t be enough for them to squander.”
Vivica knew her family’s character all too well and didn’t doubt her friend’s words for a second.
“Just help me get it tested first,” she said. “We’ll see what the results say.”
“Alright, I happen to be free right now. I’m on my way.”
After the call ended, Quintina arrived quickly, collected the hair sample, and left, seemingly more anxious for the results than Vivica herself.
The room fell silent again. Vivica let out a long sigh, feeling physically and mentally exhausted, and closed her eyes to rest.

Meanwhile, upstairs in Melanie’s room, the elderly couple was happily playing with Chaim. Dr. Tyson stopped by with some test results and couldn’t help but coo over the little boy.
“This child is just so delightful,” Dr. Tyson said with a smile. “Anyone who didn’t know better would think he was your biological grandson.”
His casual remark made Sheridan freeze. He rose and moved closer to Dr. Tyson, his gaze fixed on Chaim as he mused aloud, “I often feel that way myself.”
Dr. Tyson lowered his voice. “Sheridan, have you never suspected?”
Sheridan raised an eyebrow. “Suspected what?”
“The boy looks so much like Lennon did as a child, and he has such a natural bond with you both. Even Joseph is unusually patient and fond of him. I can’t help but wonder if, perhaps, before Lennon passed…” Dr. Tyson trailed off, his expression delicate. “Of course, I don’t mean to question Lennon’s character. I just think… what if? For instance, maybe Lennon was in a relationship with Ms. Lynn? Or there was some other reason… It all just seems too much of a coincidence.”
Over the past few days, Sheridan and Melanie had whispered about this very possibility numerous times, but they had never taken any concrete steps. Now, hearing Dr. Tyson voice their suspicions, Sheridan’s brow furrowed.
“Should we… get a paternity test?” he asked quietly.
“A paternity test isn’t possible since Lennon is gone,” Dr. Tyson explained. “But you can do a kinship DNA test between the boy and yourselves.”
Sheridan was taken aback. “They can do that? Would it prove a biological connection?”
