Avery’s POV
“Fiona?” Sebastian furrowed his brow. “No, I didn’t add her to the guest list.”
“Well, she’s here.” I nodded my chin in her direction. Sebastian followed it and sighed.
“Do you want me to have her removed?” he asked.
I looked at him. “Is that possible?”
“Well, yes, but… If I have her removed, it could cause a scene. And if it gets back to her father, it would probably be a headache for all of us.”
I watched Fiona cut through the crowd like a perfectly-honed knife. Her eyes moved sharply over the sea of guests, and I knew she was looking for one person in particular.
Gideon.
Well. At least that would keep them both occupied. Besides, Bjorn wasn’t here tonight; Claire had come to visit again, and was entertaining him in a quiet area of the house, as the party didn’t allow children. He was my main concern when it came to Fiona.
“It’s fine,” I said, looking back up at Sebastian. “I’ll just stay out of her way.”
I went to move away, but Sebastian caught me by the arm and pulled me back. I stumbled into his chest, having to grip his biceps with both hands to keep from tripping on my dress.
“Sebastian!” I hissed.
His mouth quirked. “You know what your problem is?”
“Since when do I have a problem?”
“You’re already letting outside forces impact your night.” He pulled me back into the dance, his hand tightening on my waist in a way that indicated he wasn’t going to let me go. “Loosen up a little. It’ll be fine. I’m here.”
I flushed. “I am loose.”
“Are you?” Sebastian spun us faster, making me trip again. “Seems to me like you’re moving like your limbs are made of sledgehammers.”
