The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 345

Chapter 345

I appreciated her no-nonsense attitude. We went through everything over the next hour. Claire took notes and made plans in her schedule, and I felt at ease knowing that she would handle everything perfectly.

After the meeting, I handled the rest of my day’s affairs, making sure everything was in order. For all intents and purposes, it was a normal work day. I attended meetings, held a conference, answered phone calls, filled out paperwork.

All day, I kept glancing at my door, fearing that Gideon-now knowing my identity in the human lands- would walk through it.

He never did. That was a start, I supposed.

By the end of the work day, I was exhausted and wanted to get home to check on Bjorn. But I just had one last thing to do.

I sat with my phone in my lap for a moment before I pulled up Sebastian’s number.

He answered on the third ring. “Avery?”

“I need to ask you something,” I said. “And I want you to be honest with me if the answer is no.”

“Go ahead.”

I told him about Bjorn. I told him that my son needed pack life and proper medical care and that I didn’t have anywhere else to go. I told him I wouldn’t cause any trouble and I didn’t intend to stay longer than necessary, but I needed somewhere to stay.

Sebastian was quiet for a moment after I finished.

“You and your son are welcome here for as long as you need,” he said after a moment. “I’ll prepare a suite for you.”

1 exhaled. “Thank you.”

“My pack doctor is excellent. She’ll take good care of him.” He paused. “And Avery, you don’t need to worry about Gideon. He was escorted off my territory last night and he won’t be welcome back. I’ll ensure you’re both well protected during your stay.”

A little voice in the back of my head wasn’t so sure about that, but I thanked him anyway and hung up.

I sat there for a while afterward.

Gideon’s face kept surfacing in my head no matter how many times I pushed it back down. The way he’d said my name in that courtyard. The look on his face when he stepped out of that closet. My wolf had been inconsolable for most of the night, howling at me from the inside like I had made a mistake, and I

was exhausted from fighting her.

But it didn’t change anything.

Sebastian’s pack was nowhere near Nightwolf territory. It was the safest option I had, and it was a good one, and Bjorn’s health was the only thing that mattered right now.

Finally, I went home. My mother said Bjorn was awake, eating a little broth she’d made for him. I poked my head into his room and let out a small sigh of relief upon seeing him sitting up and more lucid than he had been that morning, although he still looked horrible.

“Hey, kiddo.” I stepped into his room and smiled wanly. “I have something to tell you.”

He shot me a suspicious look.

“We’re going to the packs,” I said, walking over and sitting on the edge of his bed. “A pack called Evergreen. Their Alpha has offered to take us in for a while. Their pack doctor is good, and she can help

with your wolf. The land is right, the air is right, and there will be other wolves your age.”

Bjorn’s eyes widened.

“I know it’s sudden-”

“Are you serious?” he cut me off.

I nodded.

“We’re actually going? Like, for real this time? You’re not going to change your mind?”

“I’m not going to change my mind.”

Bjorn’s face, despite being pale and gaunt, split into a grin that I hadn’t seen in ages. It made him look younger, happier, healthier-and the way he threw his arms around me, laughing, made this entire decision worth it.
