“And if I need to leave?” I asked, looking up at him wide–eyed, “Can you help me with that as well?”
“Of course!” Reynaud looked offended that I had even had to ask, “Luna Avery, any pack would consider itself lucky to have you. If you decide after all you’ve been through to make your home elsewhere, then who could blame you?”
His hands fluttered across my shoulders, with just a hint of a caress, and there was a heat that smoldered in his eyes as he said, “And if I may be so bold, I find myself in need of a worthy Luna. I hold no expectation, of course! But I would consider it the deepest honor if you decided to leave and take the position in my pack instead.”
His voice grew breathy as his arms drew me closer to his lean, powerful body, “You would be treated as a queen, the way you always should have been.”
Tension grew in the room, and I felt my heartbeat pounding in my chest as I stared at his face so close to mine, his powerful broad hands on my skin, and the heat of him washing over me. It was heady to feel desired like this. Not just as a woman, but as a Luna, as someone useful and important.
I watched Reynaud’s lips part, his face incline towards mine. We were so close now I could feel his breath mingling with mine on my cheeks.
Was he going to kiss me?
Suddenly the room felt hot. I wasn’t sure if it was because of Reynaud’s intensity or because of the silk and tulle that still draped my body.
“I need to think,” I gasped, breathless.
For a long moment, Reynaud considered me, then he took a visibly reluctant step back, shoving his hands into the pockets of his well–cut suit.
“Of course,” he purred solicitously, “I can see that I have overwhelmed you, and I apologize. Being in your presence effects me… strongly,” Indeed, I could see that he appeared slightly flushed as well, his clothes clinging suggestively to his hard body.
I flushed a deeper shade of red and turned my gaze away. Still, it was flattering to see I had such an effect on a man like this… Gideon never betrayed any such reaction to my proximity, I thought bitterly.
“Avery? Are you almost done in there?” Camila’s voice broke in suddenly from outside the changing room. I jumped at the sudden reminder of the compromising situation I was in with a strange Alpha here with me in a state of undress.
“I’ll be right out!” I called back in a panic.
In front of me, Reynaud smirked.
“Well don’t take too long!” Camila huffed impatiently, “I’ll be over where the viewing area is.”

I heard her stomp away and turned towards Reynaud only to find he was once more very close to me. His fingers brushed my hair away from the nape of my neck and he leaned in to whisper, his lips grazing oh–so–lightly against the shell of my ear.
“Here is the information on how to get in touch with me. I await your response to my offer,” he murmured.
Then he was pulling away, and I rocked forward as his withdrawal left an unexpected vacuum and ache. I watched as he lifted his hand to his mouth and kissed his fingers before raising them in a salute towards me, then he was gone, the curtain swishing closed behind him. 1
