The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 149

Chapter 149

Avery’s POV

Gideon emerged from the bathroom, and you could hear a pin drop.

He paused in the middle of drying his hair with a towel, and glared around the room at the assembled three of us; myself, Zara, and Dierdra.

Gideon looked with bemusement at the group of Alphas and Lunas that were now staring with great interest at him as he emerged. At his glare, half the room emptied suddenly, as those who had only been present to witness the drama suddenly found other places to be.

A long and uncomfortable silence followed.

Dierdra and Zara were gaping at Gideon, mouths open in shock.

Gideon was staring at me.

I quickly took a very intense interest in staring at the floor.

“What the fuckkkk…??” Zara swore. Then she rounded on Dierdra and started whispering furiously.

Dierdra looked like she was about to cry. She let out a gasping sob and burst into tears, then dashed towards the open door with Zara hot on her heels.

The remaining onlookers trickled out after her.

I just stood there, wrapped in my sheet, still naked, and wholly confused.

Gideon stared at me a moment. He leaned down and grabbed the shirt that was laying on the floor, and put it on swiftly.

“Was it…?” I wasn’t sure what I was trying to say, “Was it you?” I choked out.

The Nightwolf Alpha didn’t say a word to me. Instead he strode towards the door, calling out for Dierdra

as he went.

Then there was just me.

Slowly I walked to the door to the hallway and closed it. Then I went into my room and closed that door too. Then I leaned against the wall and slid down to the floor.

What the hell had just happened?

Of all the people I had expected to walk out of my bathroom after a night of lovemaking, Gideon had been last on my list. Did that mean he had been my mystery lover?

I wish my head didn’t feel full of cotton, and the adrenaline spike that had occurred when Zara and Dierdra busted in was making me feel jittery and confused.

It couldn’t have been Gideon. Maybe he had just come into my room because his shower wasn’t working? Maybe his room didn’t have a shower?

The man I had laid with last night must have left earlier, or run off when Gideon had showed up.

Yeah, that must be it.

I frowned and rose off the floor and stumbled into the bathroom. I needed something to wake me up and help my brain limp along a bit faster. A cold shower would do the trick.

I stood under the stream of frigid water and leaned my head against the tile.
