The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 105

Chapter 105

Gideon looked uncertain. Nevertheless, he followed as I tugged us both towards his bed. When my calves hit the edge I laid back on the mattress and pulled him down on top of me.

Despite my courage, my heart was racing a million beats a minute being in this position with him on top of me. His large frame dwarfed mine, though he was being careful not to crush me.

“Avery…” He looked like he was going to ask me something else. I couldn’t take any more of his insightful questions. I yanked on his tie and pulled his face to mine, shutting him up with a

kiss.

Gideon’s body froze as my lips touched his. I stared into his eyes, which were wide with confusion and shock. Tentatively, I flicked my tongue across his lips.

Gideon groaned, and then his mouth was opening against mine, his lips claiming my kiss. His tongue caressed mine greedily as his palm slid up under my skirt and along my thigh to grasp my hip.

I arched into him greedily, feeling the hard edges of him pressing into my softness. Where he touched, my body came alive. As his mouth worked down my neck I buried my face in his hair and inhaled his scent.

Not since that night of my heat had I smelled someone this good. Resinous and intoxicating.

His lips dipped lower, brushing against the soft, sensitive skin just above my neckline and I startled as I remembered what was hidden within that fabric.

“Let me be on top.” I whispered in a panic.

With a husky growl, Gideon obliged, grabbing my waist and rolling beneath me so that I was straddling him. I bit back my own moan as the most delicate parts of me rubbed against him through our clothing. He felt amazing beneath me. It was hard not to get distracted.

His tie was still in my hand, and it gave me an idea. I leaned down to kiss him again, while I grabbed his wrists and pushed them above his head.

“Avery.” Gideon’s growl against my mouth was a warning, but I gave my own snarl back.

“Mine for tonight, remember?” I flashed my teeth and nipped at his lips.

The glare he gave me was all heat, but he let me wind the tie around his wrists and knot his hands to the bedframe.

When it was done, I sat back on my heels and admired my handiwork.

Gideon watched me, chest heaving as he strained experimentally at the bonds. I didn’t fool myself that they would hold him for more than a minute, but that was all I needed.

I fished into my bodice and pulled out the vial of antidote I had brewed up earlier.

“What are you doing?” He stared at the potion in my hand.

“Just listen.” I touched the pad of one finger to his lips, and ground my hips against his until he shut his mouth with a snap.

“Dierdra is not your true mate.”

Gideon opened his mouth, “I knew you were jeala-”

I placed my palm across his words, muffling them.

“The mark she wears on her neck is false. This is the antidote that will reveal it. She asked me to brew her a contraceptive. Tell her tomorrow that this is the medicine I made for her, and when she drinks it, her mark will disappear.”

Gideon’s stormy eyes stared at me with disbelief and anger, but he was listening. I could feel the tension in every muscle beneath me. He twisted his head away from my hand and said coldly, “While impressive, this ruse is unnecessary. You already have status and power as Luna, more than most ever hope for. I respect the passion behind your actions, but using it in this way disappoints me.

His words were a stab to my heart. He thought I was doing this out of petty jealousy and revenge? He would rather that I pretend everything was ok and let the deceptive Dierdra remain in his heart and his bed?

“I never cared about being your Luna.” Tears came to my eyes as I spoke and I blinked them away angrily, “You’re right, this is not the relationship I want with you. We may have other people in our past, but it’s the future that I want to have together.”

Gideon’s eyes widened in surprise as I spoke.

“I promised you I would stay for the wedding. I have kept my promise, but I cannot stay any longer.” I pulled my hand away from his mouth and slid off of the bed. Irate, he began to tug at the bindings as I backed away off of him, growling as he did. I had very little time before he would break free.

I placed the antidote vial on the bedside table and darted for the door.

“I’m sorry. Don’t look for me.

And then I disappeared into the night.
