Moss just stared in silence.

Ella felt just as speechless. How had she never noticed how jealous David could get?

She glanced at him. “Mr. Harmon, let me give you some advice. Mr. Wade is your future father-in-law. You really want to get on his bad side before the wedding? Or are you planning to give up on marrying Jessa already?”

David shook his head. “I don’t want to marry her.”

Ella smiled a little. “Let’s see if you’re still saying that later.”

David opened his mouth to reply, but Ella was already getting off the bed. “Mr. Wade, I’ll draw your blood now.”

Moss stepped into the room. “Alright.”

The butler brought in the medical kit. Moss sat down and rolled up his sleeve.

Ella took out the syringe and got to work.

David watched her. “Ella, why are you drawing his blood?”

“Jessa’s been poisoned,” Ella said. “The antidote needs blood from her closest relative. Mr. Wade’s her father, so it has to be his.”

David frowned. “How did Jessa even get poisoned?”

“I have no idea,” Ella answered.

Moss spoke up. “I’ll have someone look into it.”

Outside, Rachel was pressed up against the door, eavesdropping. When she saw Ella actually draw Moss' blood, panic set in.

What was she going to do now? If they really used Moss' blood, the truth would come out soon enough.

If everyone found out who Jessa’s real parents were, she didn’t even want to think about what would happen next.

Just then, Peter strolled over. “What are you doing out here?”

Rachel jumped. “Nothing. I wasn’t doing anything.”

Peter eyed her with suspicion. “You looked pretty sneaky, standing by the door.”

He peeked inside the room. “Ella’s just helping Mr. Wade save Jessa. What’s so interesting about that?”

Rachel shook her head. “I just don’t trust Ella. I’m worried she might try something to hurt Jessa, so I wanted to keep an eye on her.”
