The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 569

Moss looked at Rachel, his eyes cold. “Is this really how you treat your own daughter?”

Rachel’s voice trembled. “I… I…” She tried to find the words, but her thoughts were a tangled mess. With Moss, the world’s richest man, staring her down, she didn’t dare say too much. The more she spoke, the more she might reveal.

Grandma Jill spoke up. “Ella’s father wasn’t my real son. He was adopted. Jessa’s always been by Rachel’s side, so of course Rachel treats Jessa like her own.” There was a note of finality in her voice, as if that settled everything.

Moss didn’t argue. He just looked at Ella. “Ella, for now, I’ll trust you.”

Ella nodded. “Thank you, Mr. Wade.”

“But I need you to cure Jessa.”

Ella lifted an eyebrow. “You say you trust me, but the poisoning wasn’t my doing. Why should I be the one to fix it?”

Rachel snapped, “Ella, Mr. Wade is being polite. Don’t take advantage of his kindness.”

Grandma Jill added, “Ella, don’t push your luck. No one talks to Mr. Wade like that.”

Ella didn’t even glance at them. She kept her eyes on Moss. “Mr. Wade, I’m not responsible for Jessa, so I’m not obligated to help. Are you actually asking for my help right now?”

Moss couldn’t help but smile. There was something about the way Ella stood her ground, calm and clever. Nobody ever talked to him like this.

He nodded. “Yes. I’m asking. Ella, please help my daughter.”

Rachel glared at Ella, her stare full of venom. Moss was so patient with Ella. Was that the power of some blood bond?

Blood really is thicker than water, she thought. Ella was Moss' real daughter. She was the true heiress.

Ella met Moss' gaze. “If you want my help, shouldn’t you show some sincerity?”
