The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 565

Moss' features stayed hidden in the low light, sharp and handsome but impossible to read.

The butler spoke gently. “Sir, Jessa spent so many years away from us. It’s only natural she’s picked up a few… rough edges. Once she’s back in the Capital, you can guide her. She’ll find her way, I’m sure.”

Moss had started investigating Jessa’s past as soon as he realized she was his daughter. He already knew everything she had done.

But she was still his daughter. His own flesh and blood.

He glanced in the direction Ella had gone. “Let’s go.”

David went back to his office, but he didn’t even pretend to work. He just grabbed a bottle of vintage red wine, pouring glass after glass, drinking like he wanted to forget everything.

Right now, he needed to drown it all out.

Aiden stood nearby, voice soft. “Sir, maybe slow down a little. Drinking too much isn’t good for you.”

David gripped his glass and let out a bitter laugh. “After I woke up from the coma, Ella made me stick to this strict diet. No booze, no cigarettes.”

“Back then, it didn’t matter where I was, at work or traveling. Ella would always text me. I never thought twice about it, never even bothered to reply.”

“After we divorced, she just disappeared from my life. Sometimes I’d stare at my phone for ages, realizing I was waiting for her messages. I started to miss them, miss her.”

“It always felt like I had the upper hand between us, but really, it was her. She was the one who gave me everything, who made time for me. The moment she left, all the things I thought would always be there vanished. It felt like losing half my life.”

Aiden let out a sigh. He’d always preferred Ella, always hoped she and his boss would work things out. She was perfect for him.

He tried to reassure David. “Sir, it’s going to be alright. Ms. Irvine’s just hurting right now. She’ll come back. She still cares about you.”
