The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 555

Moss looked at Jessa with gentle affection, then turned his eyes to Ella. He had run into her again.

Ella’s cheeks were still streaked from tears. Her eyes looked even clearer and brighter, almost shining as she stared right back at him.

Maureen spoke up, her tone pointed. “Mr. Wade, you’re just in time. Ella was picking on Jessa again.”

Jessa gave a soft, understanding smile. “Dad, it’s fine, really. I’m your daughter now, so of course Ella must feel jealous and uncomfortable. Let her take it out on me. I don’t mind.”

Moss fixed his gaze on Ella. “I don’t know what made you hate my daughter so much, and honestly, I don’t care. I just want one thing from you. I hope you’ll stop picking on Jessa from now on.”

That was a warning, plain and simple.

Ella’s voice was calm. “Mr. Wade, maybe you should worry more about Jessa’s heart condition. You might lose her right after finally getting her back.”

At the mention of her illness, Jessa pressed her hand to her chest and looked pale. “Daddy, my heart hurts. Right now, only Ella can do the surgery I need.”

Moss turned to Ella, his expression tight. “Tell me what you want. What will it take for you to treat my daughter?”

Ella walked a little closer, her chin held high. “Aren’t you supposed to be powerful? You can protect Jessa and the whole Irvine family. Why not figure out a way to cure her yourself?”

She spun on her heel and left.

Moss was so angry he almost laughed. People usually tiptoed around him. Even Jessa was careful, always a little scared, a little awed. But Ella… she never seemed scared of him at all.

This girl really had guts.

Moss reached out and caught Ella’s slender arm.

Ella stopped, unflinching. She looked straight at him. “Mr. Wade, let go of me.”
