The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 546

Ella had never heard any of this before. She stared at David, completely stunned, trying to process the idea that he and Jessa had been linked since the day they were born.

Lilly already knew the story, but Moss’ daughter had been missing for twenty years. In all that time, there hadn’t been a single clue about her whereabouts. Everyone just assumed the heiress was probably gone for good.

She never would have guessed that Jessa was the missing girl.

Fiona let out a sigh. They’d been so close to finally holding Jessa and the Irvines accountable today, but now this bombshell about Jessa’s identity had turned everything upside down.

David pressed his lips together, his voice calm and steady. “Uncle Moss, that engagement was something our parents arranged. People get to choose who they marry now. That old promise doesn’t mean anything anymore.”

Moss didn’t show any emotion. Someone as powerful as him had learned not to let anyone read his face. He gave a small smile. “So, David, are you saying you don’t want to marry my daughter?”

David glanced at Jessa, who stood right by Moss. “That’s right. I’m not marrying her.”

Jessa’s hands balled into fists at her sides. She shot a furious glare at Ella.

She didn’t hate David, not really. All her anger was for Ella.

If it weren’t for Ella, none of this would be happening.

Moss turned his attention to Ella. “So, David, is it the girl behind you that you want to marry?”

David stood firmly in front of Ella, shielding her, but before he could answer, Ella stepped out from behind him. Her voice was cool and steady. “Mr. Wade, right now we should be talking about your daughter’s crimes, not about some engagement between your families.”

Moss studied Ella. She was about the same age as Jessa, both of them still so young. Most girls that age would be too nervous to even look at him.

But Ella met his gaze, clear and fearless. There was something different about her.
