The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 541

Being locked away in a dark room, cut off from the world, that kind of uncertainty and fear is the worst feeling there is.

David always knew how to get under someone’s skin.

Lilly curled her lips into a sly smile. “Jessa had it coming. She spent years living it up by stealing Ella’s identity. Three days locked up is just the start of her paying for everything she took.”

Ella’s eyes stayed cold and sharp. Right now, all she wanted was to get justice for her dad.

As she turned to look out the window, she noticed something odd. A bunch of roads were blocked off. “Why are the roads closed?” she asked, frowning in confusion.

Lilly looked just as baffled. “This is one of Rockford Bay’s main roads. I’ve never seen it closed before. What’s going on?”

David glanced outside, his brows pulling together. “I don’t know yet.”

Lilly stared at him, wide-eyed. “You’re Rockford Bay’s richest man, and you don’t know why the city’s roads are closed? That’s a first.”

David thought the whole thing was odd too. He pulled out his phone. “Let me call and find out.”

He dialed Aiden.

Aiden’s voice came through right away, polite and steady. “Hello, sir.”

“Why are so many roads in Rockford Bay closed today?” David asked.

“I noticed that too, sir. It’s not just the roads. I heard the airport’s shut down as well.”

David pressed his lips together. “What’s going on?”

“Word is, someone important from the Capital is coming to Rockford Bay today.”

Someone from the Capital? That was big.

David’s face stayed calm, unreadable. “Where’s the Irvine family now?”

“They’re already at the cemetery, sir. Waiting for you.”

The whole Irvine family, already there and early. That was rare.
