The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 319

Ella glanced over at David. “My boyfriend’s just as impressive as Mr. Harmon,” she said, looking him right in the eye.

She really sold it, too. Her eyes sparkled like she was actually dating someone incredible. David’s handsome face darkened, his brow furrowing.

The whole Irvine family erupted with laughter. No one believed her for a second.

Grandma Jill shook her head. “Ella, stop making things up. There’s no way you have a boyfriend like that.”

Rachel chimed in, “Come on, Ella, don’t embarrass yourself.”

Ella just raised her perfectly shaped eyebrows. Her mind wandered to the message waiting on her phone, the one from Wyatt.

Wyatt had texted her: [Ella, I’ll be in Rockford Bay in two days.]

Wyatt was coming soon.

She really hadn’t lied to anyone.

“I’ve got something to do. See you,” Ella said, then turned and walked out.

The second she was gone, everyone started talking at once. “Ella’s such a liar. Making up some rich, good-looking boyfriend just to impress us.”

“She should look in the mirror. Rich guys aren’t idiots. Why would any of them go for her?”

Jessa tugged on David’s arm, grinning. “David, it looks like your divorce really messed her up. She’s desperate to find another guy like you.”

David just stared at Ella’s retreating figure, his eyes unreadable.

Ella left the Irvine family’s old house and headed out to catch a taxi back to the dorms. She stood on the sidewalk, waiting, but hardly any taxis passed by. She ended up waiting a long time.

Suddenly, a car horn sounded behind her. Ella turned and saw a Rolls-Royce Phantom pulling up. David’s car.

He pulled to a stop right next to her. The window slid down, and his expensive, handsome face appeared. “Trying to get a ride?” he asked.
