Lilly wasn’t hiding anymore. She put it all out there. She was Allie.
Lilly is Allie?
The truth smacked Jessa so hard, she couldn’t even think straight.
Lilly was Allie?
She and Sarah had nearly torn Central College apart looking for Allie, desperate to get close to her. And it turned out, she was Lilly? The girl they’d always looked down on?
It felt like the universe was laughing in her face.
She didn’t want to believe it.
Sarah stood frozen, too shocked to move.
Lilly smiled, leaning back on the sofa. “Jessa, David told me you were dying to be friends with me. You were so chatty earlier. Why are you so quiet now?”
Ava and a line of bodyguards stood respectfully behind Lilly, while she watched Jessa with a smirk, clearly enjoying the show.
Jessa clenched her fists, barely holding herself together.
She remembered what she’d said to Lilly at the Lynch family’s front gate, just before Lilly revealed who she really was. Lilly had been messing with her the whole time, making her look like a fool.
“ Allie, you...” Sarah tried to say something.
Lilly glanced at her. “I wasn’t talking to you. Who said you could butt in?”
Sarah immediately shut up, her face flushing.
Ava scoffed. “Sarah, your dad’s just from some small, forgettable branch of the Harmon family. He had to beg Mr. Harmon for help a couple years ago, remember? You only managed to get close to Grandma Chelsea because you tried so hard to impress her. That’s the only reason you have any status now. Don’t forget who you really are. How dare you speak up in front of Miss Lilly?”
Ava’s words tore right through Sarah. Her face went pale as paper.
