The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 235

“I’d like to talk to you for a minute…”

“I’m busy.” His voice was cold, cutting her off without a hint of warmth. “If you need anything, speak to my secretary and make an appointment.”

He hung up before she could say another word. The dial tone echoed in Ella’s ear, flat and final.

For Fiona’s sake, Ella had no choice but to track down David in person. “Mr. Lambert, just wait for my call,” she told him before heading out.

Ella made her way to Bellemont Manor. The maid opened the gate as she approached. “Mrs. Harmon.”

“Is David home? Please let him know I need to see him.”

“Of course, ma’am. Please wait right here.” The maid disappeared inside.

Ella stood outside, her nerves tight, waiting. The maid returned quickly. “Ma’am, he is in his study, but he said he doesn’t want to see you.”

He didn’t want to see her. The words stung, but Ella straightened her shoulders. “That’s fine. I’ll wait right here until he changes his mind.”

A luxury van pulled up just then. Monica stepped out, heels sparkling with crystal detail. She glanced at Ella and gave a mocking laugh.

“Ella, are you really here to see David? He’s not going to see you. He doesn’t even like you. Isn’t it embarrassing to keep chasing after him like this?”

With a smug little smirk, Monica walked right past her and into the manor.

Ella’s hands clenched into fists at her sides.

Inside, David sat at his desk, flipping through documents. His face was sharp and distant, all icy elegance. Ella had really gotten under his skin.

He’d waited for her outside the civil office, ready to finalize their divorce. She never showed. She just left him standing there, waiting like a fool.

Was this some kind of game to her?

David Harmon, played by a woman. The thought was like a slap.
