The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 216

David glanced up, his eyes catching on a slim, familiar figure. Ella was here.

He pressed his lips together, trying to keep his cool. “Why are you here? Who told you to come?”

Ella stepped into the living room, stopping right in front of him.

“Aiden!” David called out, his voice sharp. “Aiden, where are the people I asked for? Why aren’t they here yet?”

No one answered. The silence stretched.

Ella didn’t say a word. She just stood there.

David tugged at the collar of his shirt, feeling the heat rising in his chest. “Leave.” His tone was cold.

Ella lowered her lashes, her gaze soft but unreadable. “Fine, I’ll leave then.” She turned to walk away.

But before she could take more than a step, a strong hand grabbed her arm. David’s voice was tight with anger, his words low and rough. “Ella.”

He almost sounded like he was grinding her name between his teeth.

Ella turned back, mischief sparkling in her eyes. “What, David?” she teased, acting as if nothing was wrong.

David’s patience snapped. He yanked her closer, and she landed in his lap. His body burned with fever, his self-control hanging by a thread. The air between them felt electric.

He pulled her against him, burying his face in her hair, his lips finding her neck. One of his hands slid under the edge of her shirt, seeking out her warmth.

Ella shivered in his arms.

He noticed. “Why are you trembling? Never been with a man before?”

She met his gaze, and for a moment, David lost himself in her eyes. The intensity there was almost too much. He stared at her like he wanted to devour her, his usual cool mask gone. Did he really think she was so casual with men? Did he think she’d been with so many that this meant nothing?
