The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 165

For years, David had been surrounded by temptation. He was no stranger to girls who knew exactly what they wanted, and it was obvious to him that Ella was trying to play him.

She was testing her luck, seeing if she could get under his skin.

She wanted to see if he’d fall for it.

David couldn’t help a slight, amused smile.

Just then, his phone rang, the sound cutting through the air. He glanced down and saw “Jessa” lighting up his screen.

The sight of her name cooled him off immediately, tamping down the heat Ella had stirred up just moments before. He hit answer.

Jessa’s voice was soft and gentle on the other end. “David, are you still mad at me? I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have argued with you, and I shouldn’t have broken that vase. Honestly, I was just jealous. I hate seeing you treat Ella so well. Please don’t be mad, David. I love you. I really, really love you.”

David had spoiled Jessa these past years, but now she was setting aside her pride, apologizing and coaxing him, saying over and over how much she loved him.

He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t moved. She was his girl, after all.

Jessa belonged to him.

His features softened. “It was my fault too.”

Jessa sounded instantly relieved. “So, can we just move on? Tomorrow’s Atlas’ birthday. Everyone’s getting together for a party. Let’s go together.”

David nodded, even though she couldn’t see it. “Alright.”

They hung up.

A moment later, Cedric came out of the bathroom. He’d tried to cool off with cold water, but he still looked frustrated. “David, I dropped to Bronze. I can’t believe it. I hate Ella.”

David shot him a look. “Maybe spend less time gaming and more time dating.”

“I’d love to date someone.”
