The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 154

David stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, tall and lean, his silhouette framed by the city lights. His eyes were cold, dark, and unreadable. “You really think a simple apology is enough to fix this? Just go home.”

Avery’s eyes welled up with tears, her voice trembling with desperation. “David, please, I’m begging you. Carter and I both held you when you were little, remember? Wesley is our only son. Please, just let him go. We promise, we’ll keep him in line from now on.”

David didn’t even flinch. “Aiden,” he said, his tone icy, “see them out.”

Aiden stepped forward, polite but unyielding. “Mr. Ross, Mrs. Ross, this way, please.”

Carter’s face twisted with frustration. “David, are you really going to be this heartless? All for a girl? I looked into her. She’s just some country girl with bad grades. Is she really worth all this? Are you seriously ready to ruin things between the Harmon and Ross families over her? To make us enemies?”

David just gave Aiden a look and stayed silent.

Aiden’s smile faded. “Mr. Ross, Mrs. Ross, will you leave on your own, or do I need to call security?”

Carter clenched his jaw. “Fine. We’ll go.”

He grabbed Avery’s hand and stormed out.

Outside Briarwood Estate, Carter’s anger finally exploded. “David! He doesn’t care about family at all. He’s gone too far. I can’t believe this.”

Avery grabbed his sleeve, tears streaming down her face. “Honey, Wesley is still in David’s hands. What if he doesn’t let him go? He’s our only child. If anything happens to him, the Ross family ends here. Please, you have to think of something.”

Carter was furious, but he knew David had the upper hand. After all, Wesley had messed up first. If this got out, they’d both look bad.

But David was stone cold, and he’d had them thrown out without a second thought.
