Flipping the maids’ skirts wouldn’t get you a free voyeur show. They were wearing tights underneath. But they would hurt you for trying.
And Cara was looking forward to the day that someone learned.
"I didn’t use the Dark Flame Phoenix as the guardian of the targets this time. I thought that I would switch it up to make it a little more regionally festive." Karl noted, now that they had fully explored the abilities of the Gargoyles.
Barry turned to the nearest tutor, and motioned for him to begin targeting the ranged attack dummies.
The moment that he did, a small black dragon appeared above the target area, and intercepted the attack with an equal strength [Disintegrate] attack, one of the more basic Void Magic spells.
"Oh, that’s just evil. You had a toddler be the guardian? Couldn’t you make it scale with strength?" Dakkarian asked.
"It does. But two Ranks down in age. By the time that someone like the Palace Guard attacks it, the defensive dragon should be ten metres long, nearly an adult." Karl explained.
Dakkarian laughed. "You know that in a generation, everyone will forget that you made this just because the Librarian asked you to, and they will start spreading rumours about it being an ancient secret room where you can test yourself against the skills of the greatest dragons of their generation.
They’re going to be convinced that there were actually small children that talented, and that they could somehow, one day, meet that standard."
Karl shrugged, but the tutors looked excited.
"That is brilliant. I should tell them that. Then, they’ll keep trying and improving until they can actually keep up with the dragon." One suggested.
"And this is how legends start. Just two dragons playing a prank on children to get them to behave in class." Librarian Barry sighed.
"It’s brilliant, really. Everyone likes a good legend. As long as the blue dragons and the Library know the truth, what does it matter if everyone else believes otherwise?" Cara asked.
The blue dragons all looked pained. "Knowledge is sacred. To deliberately spread misinformation like this... It’s not right."
The badger shrugged. "Well, that is one way of looking at it. But either way, they’re going to flock to this place and start rumours about how it was created, since nobody can see anything but the illusion.
Well, unless they’re an Immortal with a vision skill, but that hardly counts."
"It’s a shame that everyone is with their families right now, or we could stress test the room to see how much mana we need to stock. That will be valuable information in the near future.
Once it’s being occupied full time by the hatchlings, we’re going to be constantly fuelling it." Librarian Barry noted.
