In response to Jade Bennett’s questioning, Scarlett Jennings said, "Human traffickers."
As she finished speaking, her hand had already opened the sack on the ground, revealing a little boy about three or four years old sleeping inside.
The rough movements just now hadn’t woken him, probably because he had been drugged.
Jade Bennett was taken aback when she heard "human traffickers", but the expression on her face turned stern upon seeing the little boy in the sack,
"He’s a child from Blossom Village."
As she spoke, she kicked the two people stuck on the ground without hesitation.
How dare they try to abduct children on Jade Bennett’s turf? Courting death!
Yes, although the Artefact Village was built behind Blossom Village, Jade Bennett considered the entire area down the mountain, including Blossom Village, as part of their Artefact Village’s territory.
The little ones from the village would occasionally go down the mountain and peek through windows to watch TV.
But even if these two weren’t trying to abduct a child from the village, and had taken a child from elsewhere, human traffickers all deserved to die.
After kicking the man, Jade Bennett saw the woman beside him shrink back with a look of compliance and kicked her as well without any discrimination.
While the two were howling in pain, Dashiell and Baoshan quickly ran over from the forest.
Seeing Jade Bennett, Baoshan immediately cried out grievance, "Zoey!"
Then he saw the little boy in Scarlett Jennings’ arms, and the large man who had just been complaining instantly looked delighted, "Niu Niu! There’s Niu Niu!"
Saying this, he reached out to grab Niu Niu. When the child didn’t wake, he tried to tug at him.
"Niu Niu! Niu Niu!"
Jade Bennett saw him nearly yank the child up and quickly stopped him, "Niu Niu has been drugged. You take him home."
With the village’s child missing, the parents must be worried sick.
Hearing Jade Bennett’s words, Baoshan immediately nodded, "I’ll carry him."
Scarlett Jennings heard and handed the child over to him, but quickly took out a folded triangle talisman paper from her bag and slipped it into the child’s collar before letting go.
The child’s spirit was a bit unstable from the trauma of the traffickers, and without something to calm it, he might suffer from nightmares.
Baoshan noticed her action, gently patted the spot where she placed the talisman paper with one hand, and smiled at Scarlett Jennings,
"Thank you."
Then, instead of tugging, he switched to carrying the child, carefully but securely, and without bothering about the two traffickers on the ground, he turned and ran down the mountain with the child.
Dashiell, knowing they were human traffickers, looked at them with some disgust and asked,
"What should we do with these two? Shouldn’t we report them to the village and call the police?"
Jade Bennett, standing nearby, said,
"There’s no rush to call the police."
As she spoke, she bent down and dragged the two over to the hole she had just crawled out from, one in each hand.
After hesitating slightly, she buried them directly in the hole, leaving only their heads exposed.
She brushed the dirt off her hands, muttering,
"You’re lucky to be in the pit I was lying in."
The two traffickers initially thought she was going to bury them alive, but only having their bodies buried instead of their heads left them even more terrified.
"What are you doing?! Let us out?!"
"This is extrajudicial punishment and retaliation!"
They had stolen a child; why shouldn’t they be reported to the police and arrested?!
Jade Bennett couldn’t be bothered with them. Seeing them refuse to stop shouting, she casually grabbed a handful of dirt and stuffed it into their mouths,
"Shut up."
The two were caught off guard and ended up with mouths full of dirt, spitting it out continuously.
Jade Bennett ignored them, packed the dirt down tightly around them, and said,
"Leave them buried for a couple of days before reporting to the police."
Sending them directly to the police station would be too easy.
Scarlett Jennings had no objection.
The two seemed to be a couple from their appearance, not a part of a typical human trafficking ring. They had stolen the child simply because they wanted to raise him themselves.
