Noah Zimmerman’s sudden comment left Ian Whitley and the others, including George Goodman, momentarily stunned.
George Goodman wore a baffled expression,
"Who said I wanted to kill you? I clearly said I wanted to kill that... Demon Ghost?"
The last two words seemed to hit him with realization as he looked at Noah Zimmerman, his expression evident with fear.
"You... you are that Demon Ghost..."
George Goodman didn’t know that the Demon Ghost mentioned by Scarlett Jennings was just a general term, but whether a demon or a ghost, it was scary enough for him.
As he stared at Noah Zimmerman, he felt an eerie and sinister aura surrounding him.
Instinctively, he wanted to run, but Scarlett Jennings anticipated it. An Immobilization Talisman was set at his feet, causing George Goodman to feel as if his feet were glued to the ground.
Terrified, he looked at Scarlett Jennings, as if suddenly realizing,
"You knew he was the ghost all along! Are you in cahoots?!"
George Goodman was furious, wishing to go straight to the Security Bureau to report her.
Initially, Ian Whitley was confused, but now he finally reacted, sharply turning to Noah Zimmerman,
"What’s the meaning?! Did he steal your fortune?!"
Noah Zimmerman wasn’t clear on the specifics either, and uncertainly replied,
"Should be, right?"
Earlier, when George Goodman wanted to kill the person whose fortune was stolen, Noah felt a malicious intent from him.
Ian Whitley was silent for a moment upon his reaction, then decisively turned to Scarlett Jennings,
"Master Jennings, what exactly is going on here?"
Scarlett hadn’t spoken yet when George Goodman’s assistant, spotting a potential savior, urgently waved down the corridor for help,
"Miss Sullivan! Miss Sullivan, please come and save George!"
He wasn’t sure what was happening, but knowing George might have stolen something, he could infer a bit.
Moreover, that inference was related to the person with the bodyguards coming down the corridor.
Camilla Sullivan, from the Capital Metropolitan’s Sullivan Family, famed as the Capital Zone’s Princess.
She had come to visit George, only to find several people blocking the lounge entrance, making her quicken her pace, approaching with bodyguards.
"What’s going on?"
Seeing George frozen with a pale face and then the group inside and outside the lounge, her gaze fell on Scarlett Jennings, somewhat surprised,
"Are you Scarlett Jennings?"
Scarlett Jennings nodded as Camilla pointed to George,
"I don’t know if there’s any misunderstanding, but George is my friend. Could Miss Jennings have mercy on behalf of the Sullivan Family and release him?"
She knew who Scarlett Jennings was and that she used mystical techniques, which clearly had affected George.
A conflict’s reason was still unknown.
Scarlett Jennings carefully studied Camilla’s face as she spoke but did not rush to respond. Instead, she turned to Noah Zimmerman and Ian Whitley, answering their previous question,
"With everyone gathered, I’ll explain what’s likely happening here."
Scarlett Jennings paused, then suddenly asked,
"Have you heard the story of the Merfolk?"
The group was momentarily taken aback; Ian Whitley subconsciously glanced at the Merfolk nearby.
This Merfolk tale seemed to relate to Zimmerman.
"The Merfolk, yearning for a life on the shore, once accidentally rescued a prince at sea, sending him back ashore. But the prince mistook another girl for his savior..."
Scarlett Jennings narrated plainly, causing each listener’s expressions to alter.
Especially George Goodman and Camilla Sullivan, who felt the story was pointing at something.
Ian Whitley was the first to grasp the meaning, eyes widening as he looked at Scarlett Jennings, then at Camilla Sullivan,
