Scarlett Jennings thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep, but in reality, she not only fell asleep quickly but also slept soundly.
When she opened her eyes, it was completely dark. Logan lay beside her, still in the same position as before.
Scarlett Jennings carefully observed the person in front of her.
Perhaps because he was from the Demon Clan, Logan looked no more than twenty-seven or eight. Despite his youth, there was occasionally a sense of calmness and transparency in his brows and eyes that didn’t match his age.
It felt the same as when he faced her with Jasmine Hamilton’s face.
As Scarlett was thinking this, a sudden shriek from the system echoed in her mind,
[Scarlett Jennings!!]
Scarlett flinched, instinctively reacting.
At the same time she moved, Logan, who had been lightly sleeping with his eyes closed, suddenly opened them, filled with sharpness and alertness.
That piercing gaze lasted just a moment, quickly softening when he realized it was her beside him. He returned to his usual appearance and asked her,
"You’re awake? Hungry?"
Scarlett shook her head and suddenly pointed outside the room, "I heard my turtle calling me."
Logan blinked.
A turtle calling?
How does a turtle call?
Why didn’t she hear it?
But soon, the two realized what was going on.
As Scarlett opened the door, she saw Thalassa Hamilton, who was nurtured by Logan, elegantly squatting on the ground outside.
It looked up at the two of them, its expression inexplicably proud, while its forelimbs were pinning down a turtle flailing its limbs but unable to move.
[Scarlett Jennings! Get this stinky fox off me!!]
[I am a dignified Heavenly Dao system, and everyone treats me like a toy! Stinky fox! You’re finished! You’ve offended me, you’re done for!]
The system turtle wailed loudly, giving Scarlett a headache. She had to squat down and rescue it from Thalassa’s claws.
Thalassa was confused but saw the person who resembled her owner and let the new toy go.
Thalassa turned and trotted away.
Logan, however, was staring down at the turtle in Scarlett’s hand,
"This turtle of yours... is it a demon?"
She didn’t think Scarlett would intentionally bring a turtle as a pet, and any turtle brought to the Otherworld by her surely wasn’t simple.
She knew that ordinary small demons would have their demonic power suppressed and revert to their true form when passing through the chaos of an Otherworld portal.
She figured this must be a Turtle Demon.
How coincidental, she also knew a turtle.
But the one she knew wasn’t a demon, it was a Divine Beast.
"It’s not a demon, but it’s definitely not an ordinary turtle."
Scarlett briefly explained the system turtle’s origin. Hearing that the turtle housed a Heavenly Dao system, Logan instinctively raised an eyebrow,
"A system? Isn’t it more likely to be an Evil Spirit modification?"
Scarlett said, "It claims to be a system, so let’s just consider it as one."
"There’s no Spiritual Energy in the Otherworld, I haven’t seen an Evil Spirit for ages. Choosing a turtle as a host now, seems like Evil Spirits have quite the imagination these days."
"Hmm, I feel the same way."
As the two conversed back and forth, the system was about to explode.
[Scarlett Jennings! I can hear you! This is slander!
Did I choose this host?! It was you who took advantage of my weakness to forcibly bind me to this turtle!]
Scarlett ignored it.
The two changed their clothes, preparing to go out for dinner.
After all, with Logan’s cooking skills known, for their first meal since recognizing each other, Logan decided to take Scarlett out for something good.
