Scarlett Jennings looked at the woman behind the tree while she noticed Scarlett too.
The woman was startled at first, and then her eyes widened in disbelief.
Suddenly, she saw the woman mouthing words at her.
A look of confusion crossed Scarlett’s eyes until she finally understood.
She was saying... [Run away.]
Sensing something, Scarlett suddenly turned her head, only to see an arm reaching out to grab her.
Scarlett instinctively sidestepped and prepared to twist the arm of her opponent.
However, her movement halted slightly upon seeing her assailant’s identity.
It was in this brief moment that Scarlett was caught by the opponent.
Along with her, the woman suspected of being her mother hiding behind the tree was apprehended by another security guard.
On their way to the security office, the woman looked at Scarlett with some frustration,
"I told you to run away, and you still foolishly got caught."
Scarlett: ...
"Right back at you."
When the two were brought to the security office, the security captain’s eyebrows furrowed at the sight of the woman,
"Why is it you again?!"
He then looked at Scarlett,
"This time you even brought an accomplice, do you think this place is your backyard?!"
Another security guard advised her,
"Miss, let me give you some advice; chasing stars isn’t done like this, and those who chase stars are young girls in their teens or twenties, aren’t they in your age...?
Okay, you may not be that young, but you’re not that old either. Don’t you have your own family and career?"
Regardless of what the guard said, the woman just repeatedly nodded.
Seeing her unaffected, the security captain lectured both of them for about ten minutes before waving them off, throwing them out of the villa area.
Standing in front of the familiar villa gates, Scarlett couldn’t help but look at the woman beside her,
"Are you chasing stars?"
"That’s nonsense, I don’t chase stars."
The woman dusted off her clothes, and her appearance closely resembled the photograph Donovan Jennings had once shown her of her mother, who was under thirty.
The woman before her was clearly also under thirty.
"Logan?"
Scarlett called out her name.
The woman called Logan was stunned, then turned to smile,
"You know me? How did you end up inside? Who are you looking for?"
Scarlett stared fixedly at the woman before her, seeing her smiling with complete unfamiliarity, then said,
"I’m looking for my master."
Logan’s expression froze slightly but she continued to smile, "Your master must be quite wealthy then. Only rich people live here."
As she spoke, she suddenly seemed to notice Scarlett’s outfit was still damp, and without waiting for a response, she said,
"Your clothes are still wet? That’s not good, if you wear wet clothes for too long, you’ll catch a cold. I’m heading home by taxi, would you like a lift?"
Scarlett’s gaze lowered, simply stating, "I have nowhere to go."
She looked at Logan and asked, "Can I go to your place?"
Logan: ...
For anyone meeting a stranger, it’s not likely to make such a sudden request.
Yet Scarlett asked so naturally, and Logan agreed just as naturally.
