The director standing at the door turned grim upon hearing the commotion inside.
Gregory Xander confirmed that the Ghost Killing Spell had severely injured the Shadow Ghost and stepped forward to kick the door.
The director’s expression changed; he hurriedly came forward to stop him, "Master Xander, please... don’t be so violent."
If the door got damaged, the crew paying for it would be minor trouble; causing a big scene would be hard to resolve.
"I know the people inside, let me knock first."
The director said as he stepped up to knock on the door.
Ariel Zimmerman had also heard Delaney Clark’s cries earlier; seeing the director’s reaction now, she guessed he wanted to give the people inside time to prepare and stared at him incredulously.
The director faced Ariel Zimmerman’s gaze but continued to knock, despite the lack of response from inside.
The director spoke again,
"How about we have the hotel manager come to open the door? Just wait a bit..."
Ariel Zimmerman showed dissatisfaction upon hearing this and was about to speak when Gregory Xander said, "No need."
With that, he directly took out a little paperman from his bag.
Since violence was not an option, he would use something else.
With his hand gestures, he directed spiritual power towards the little paperman, and the paperman started to move.
Though its movements were a bit stiff, it floated from Gregory Xander’s palm under his command.
The little paperman quickly squeezed through the crack of the door and entered the room. Shortly after, a click was heard, and the door was opened from the inside.
Both the director and Ariel Zimmerman were slightly surprised.
You Mystical Sect people can do this?
Ignoring their surprise, Gregory Xander directly entered the room, clearly finding nothing wrong with intruding on someone else’s room.
After all, being from the Mystical Sect, eliminating evil spirits was always the top priority. Knowing the Shadow Ghost was inside, delaying entry could endanger the people within.
As the room opened, Delaney Clark’s incredulous face met them; she glared at the three and sternly rebuked,
"What are you doing?! Who allowed you to come in? I’m calling the police to arrest you!"
Gregory Xander’s expression remained unchanged as he said, "Do as you please."
He then focused on the pale, unconscious man behind her and the shadow beneath him that appeared somewhat weak.
"To use a living person as a curse shield."
Gregory Xander spoke coldly and stepped forward, pulling out a Yellow Talisman, and slapped it hard onto the man.
At the instant the Yellow Talisman hit, the originally unconscious man suddenly jerked violently, and from his shadow, something black seemed to bulge, attempting to be forced out.
That was the Shadow Ghost hiding in the man’s shadow.
Seeing the Shadow Ghost mostly squeezed out, yet gripping tightly onto the man’s shadow and squeezing back in.
The unconscious man’s body trembled again, and his face visibly became even paler.
Gregory Xander frowned at this, pulling out a high-level Spirit Talisman, intending to assert more force to drive out the Shadow Ghost from the man.
However, before he could act, a familiar clear voice came from the door.
"If you slap that Talisman on, the man’s living soul will be destabilized."
Gregory Xander’s action halted sharply due to the voice.
The other three in the room quickly turned around, and upon seeing the girl standing at the door, the director couldn’t help but show admiration first,
"You are!"
"Scarlett!"
Ariel Zimmerman excitedly rushed towards Scarlett Jennings at the door, hugging her tightly.
"Scarlett, why are you here too?!"
Scarlett Jennings, embraced by Ariel Zimmerman, sensed her soul’s state.
Fortunately, even having encountered a ghost, her soul remained steady.
"I saw the message you sent in the morning, tried calling but got no response, so I came to check."
What Scarlett Jennings didn’t mention was, worried about anything happening to Ariel, she spent a fortune hiring the Ghost Dad from Beichou Road to use the Ghost Car to bring her here, cutting the travel time by two-thirds.
Good thing she came on this journey.
Scarlett Jennings seized the opportunity, striking the shadow repeatedly, instantly, the Shadow Ghost fell to the ground, resembling somewhat the man on the sofa lying on the ground.
Seeing Scarlett Jennings’ Peach Wood Sword turning towards him, the Shadow Ghost’s expression showed slight terror amidst its numb demeanor.
"Don’t, kill me."
"Don’t kill him!"
Delaney Clark, previously pulled aside by Ariel, suddenly exclaimed upon seeing the Shadow Ghost man drop, breaking free from Ariel and running to block in front of him.
"Don’t kill him; he hasn’t hurt anyone. He’s a good ghost."
She hastily glanced at Ariel, gritting her teeth,
"He didn’t really want to hurt Ariel; he just listened to me and wanted to scare her."
Ariel Zimmerman, having guessed this involved her, felt a surge of anger upon hearing her confession,
"Why are you scaring me?! What did I do to offend you?!"
Strictly speaking, she should be the offended one, alright?!
Suddenly inserted as a second lead, demanding more scenes, stealing her spotlight!
She didn’t say anything yet; this person first sought something to scare her?
"You... you always act like something goes wrong when we perform scenes together these days, being uncomfortable every time it’s my scene. The way you target me, can I not scare you?!"
Delaney Clark spoke these words feeling a bit aggrieved.
She was only trying to add some scenes, gain some spotlight, and the producers and director agreed, yet she stubbornly refused and fought against it.
Could she not just obediently listen to the sponsors?
Ariel Zimmerman nearly exploded with frustration hearing her justifications,
"Just for such trivial matters... you brought a ghost to watch me day-to-day to scare me?!"
Scarlett Jennings looked at the flicker in Delaney Clark’s eyes, then at the Shadow Ghost behind her, narrowing her eyes,
"No, you aren’t telling the truth."
Saying this, she didn’t waste any more words. Raising her hand, a Truth Talisman was directly cast onto Delaney Clark.
