Spencer Atkins decided to join this reality show, half of the reason being Scarlett Jennings.
The heiress of the Jennings Family, young, with her second uncle heading Sea Sky Entertainment, she had resources, connections, and capital.
For him right now, she was a perfect choice, especially since he had grown up and urgently needed a leading role to prove he qualified to be a top actor.
What he didn’t expect was that after the first day of the program, the two of them, aside from the introductory segment, didn’t even share a frame.
Spencer couldn’t accept this.
Now, everyone knew Scarlett Jennings was a big deal. If he didn’t quickly make a move to get ahead, he could easily be overshadowed.
That’s why he snuck out tonight.
Spencer thought it through clearly, this was an excellent opportunity to build goodwill. For this reason, he even dismissed the follow-up photographer, making it appear like he wasn’t intentionally trying to perform but was simply concerned for her.
In any case, he’d still get camera time after meeting up with Scarlett.
Thinking this, Spencer quickly made his way toward the house where Scarlett was staying, but the family they were staying with was a bit far. Spencer had just covered half the distance when he heard footsteps approaching from behind.
Spencer paused, and the next second, a hand suddenly slapped his shoulder.
"Ah!"
No matter how much he had calculated, he was still young and, of course, felt scared walking alone at night.
Especially since there were rumored strange occurrences in the village.
However, when he snapped out of his fright and saw the person approaching, Spencer almost fell to the ground.
"Amber Livingston, you scared me to death!"
It was Amber Livingston, and behind her was her follow-up photographer.
Amber looked at Spencer strangely, thinking to herself that he had scared her too.
"I wanted to ask why you were out here alone so late. Didn’t you hear what Scarlett and Evander said before?" freewebnøvel.coɱ
Amber hadn’t wanted to bother when he noticed Spencer missing, knowing his own limits.
But with the live audience watching, he couldn’t just ignore it.
So he could only take the photographer and come out to find him at night.
Seeing he was caught, Spencer didn’t cover it up, saying,
"I’m just worried, you know? With Sebastian over there being fine, Scarlett and Ariel are two girls, and Scarlett has to keep watch. I just couldn’t rest easy and wanted to sneak over to check."
As he spoke, he subtly glanced at the photographer’s lens beside Amber,
"Didn’t expect to be discovered anyway."
Amber was speechless.
In her eyes, at least Scarlett had real skills, whereas Spencer, a muggle showing up, was purely for building goodwill and utterly useless otherwise.
But in front of the program’s cameras, she couldn’t exactly say that out loud and just persuaded him a bit. Seeing he insisted, she simply suggested the two of them go together to find Scarlett.
On one hand, she couldn’t leave Spencer alone, and on the other hand, if he wanted to build goodwill, they could do it together.
No way she would let this kid have all the glory by himself.
...
Meanwhile, Scarlett Jennings was unaware of Amber Livingston’s group. After nightfall, she kept watch downstairs while the follow-up photographer stayed with her.
There was no helping it. This was the director’s insistence.
The broadcast didn’t cut off on time, and the audience enthusiastically expressed their willingness to keep the guests company.
Director Clark didn’t want everyone to be bored, so he thought that since they had to work late, he might as well go all in and opened a live stream connecting Scarlett and Evander’s side.
Everyone could chat together, which would help pass the time.
Though Ariel Zimmerman and Sebastian Carew were each left in their rooms, they were worried about Evander and Scarlett after hearing about the live connection. They promptly requested to join.
The moment the livestream connected, the four guests and their audience were a bit stunned,
"Amber Livingston, where are you two? Why does it look like you’re outside?" Ariel was the first to ask.
On the other end, Amber and Spencer were walking side by side, then said with a mysterious look,
"You’ll find out soon enough."
Sebastian frowned, "You went out? Didn’t we say the village isn’t safe at night? Why are you wandering around?"
Evander added, "Where are you now? I’ll come get you."
Amber and Spencer replied, "No worries, we’re near Scarlett’s place now, just gotta pass through this fish pond—what the hell!"
With Amber’s shout, the audience in the live chat widened their eyes, exclaiming,
[What the hell! I think I just saw something behind Amber and Spencer!]
[What the hell! Ahhh! You weren’t mistaken! There’s definitely something back there!]
With the live chat in frenzy, both Scarlett and Amber realized that behind them, in the pond, a pair of eyes suddenly appeared.
In the dark of night, a pair of eyes gleamed with green light, terrifying on their own.
Even more frightening was that as everyone focused on the darkness, they soon found that one pair of eyes turned into two, then three...
In a blink, countless eyes glowing green seemed to surround Amber and Spencer.
The camera began to shake—that was the photographer trembling.
Scarlett and Evander almost simultaneously stood up and started running outside while from Amber’s live chat, those gleaming green eyes began moving closer.
"Run... run fast!"
Someone, trembling, shouted it out first, and the live feed began to shake compliantly with the running.
With the sounds of hurried footsteps and gasping, eventually, someone let out a loud scream.
The next moment, the live feed plunged into darkness.
