The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 1183

“It won’t happen again, I swear… Please, just give me another chance, will you?”

Leonard let out a low chuckle. “With your kind of intelligence, the second you show up in front of Joshua, he’ll see right through you.”

“Rachel, you mean nothing to me. You’re a liability, not an asset.”

He waved his hand dismissively at his men. “Hand her over to Simone. Let her do whatever she wants—frankly, I don’t care if she ends up dead.”

Rachel was nothing but a disposable pawn, already useless to him. Joshua had kept her around, knowing perfectly well she posed no real threat, probably just to stir up trouble for Simone—to watch them squabble over some so-called ‘first love’ and rip each other apart. It was nothing but a cruel game for his amusement.

Rachel was worthless to Joshua and even more so to Leonard. Better to let Simone vent her anger on her.

Without so much as a backward glance, Leonard strode away.

Behind him, Rachel’s desperate cries echoed down the hallway.

“Mr. Lerman! I know all of Joshua’s secrets! I can help you—please, just let me help you!”

Leonard didn’t even slow his pace. To him, Rachel was hopeless—dim-witted, spineless, not even half as useful as Stella. He’d have to be insane to ever work with a woman like her.

……

Although Stella had been bitten by a snake, the venom had been cleared out in time, and after a period of rest, she quickly recovered.

Haynes had been planning to return to Novaris, but Stella’s disappearance forced him and Keen to stay on in Solmaris for another week.

Only after Stella was fully recovered did Haynes reluctantly take Keen and leave.

He didn’t have much of a choice; The Wilkinson Group was suddenly facing a major crisis.
