Nothing like this had ever happened before.
Shawn was the only son of his parents, so naturally, they were beside themselves with worry.
They immediately sent people to investigate, only to discover that Shawn had never actually left the Williams family’s party.
He’d arrived with his secretary, but now she was missing as well.
When Shawn’s parents heard the news, a wave of unease washed over them.
Since the last place Shawn had been seen was at the Williams’ party, it was only natural that his parents came over, demanding answers.
Israel had just come downstairs when he overheard their confrontation, and couldn’t help but scoff.
“Mr. Pearce, Mrs. Pearce, you’ve got some nerve coming here to demand your son. We haven’t even started holding you accountable yet.
Your son, Shawn, tried to drug Stella at Aurora’s birthday party—right in front of everyone—and force us to marry her off to him.”
Even if Israel wasn’t the brightest, he could see right through Shawn’s intentions.
He wanted Stella, but what he really wanted was the Williams family’s shares.
No wonder his older brother was furious.
The plan was obvious: manipulate Stella, cause a rift in the Williams family, then snatch her shares and take control of the Williams Group.
What a schemer.
Why should the Williams family’s shares fall into an outsider’s hands? The Pearces had some nerve!
Skyler and Jonathan’s faces darkened at Israel’s words. By the time they tried to stop him, it was already too late.
Shawn’s parents exchanged a look. “So that’s how it is. Seems you really have hidden Shawn away.”
Israel opened his mouth to retort, but Jonathan shot him a sharp look that made him bite his tongue.
If the Williams family and Shawn had a falling out, and Shawn vanished at their party, it was practically an invitation for his parents to suspect them.
But the results matched Mr. Pearce’s claims.
After Shawn left the Pearce house, he never returned.
Even the party’s security cameras in the hallway had mysteriously malfunctioned, leaving no trace of Shawn at all.
No matter how hard the Williams family or the Pearces searched, Shawn had vanished without a trace.
It was as if he had disappeared from the face of the earth overnight.
…
When Shawn finally woke, he found himself in a dimly lit basement.
Turning his head, he saw his secretary—bound and unconscious—beside him.
Still groggy and disoriented, Shawn struggled to make sense of what had happened.
