The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 1084

There were always plenty of handsome men around Stella, but rarely anyone quite like this.

She couldn’t help but steal another glance.

Noticing this, Joshua’s expression instantly turned cold.

But Stella’s curiosity was nothing more than a fleeting appreciation, and she quickly looked away.

Aicken approached, handing Stella several transition documents. He began to outline the company’s operations and recent developments in thorough detail.

As he spoke, it became clear to Stella that he was more than just a pretty face—Aicken was impressively professional and well-versed in his field.

She found herself rather satisfied with him.

After wrapping up the business overview, Aicken invited her, “Ms. Cameron, would you like to take a look around the company? Everyone’s heard there’s new leadership—they’re quite excited.”

Stella considered for a moment, then nodded her agreement.

She’d always thought Joshua was the most attentive bodyguard she could ask for. But Aicken’s professionalism was on another level.

With his background as a personal assistant, he kept the perfect distance while speaking to her, never too close, never too far. Every gesture was impeccably timed—from pressing the elevator button and letting her enter first, to opening the car door and shielding her head so she wouldn’t bump it. Not a single detail was overlooked.

Normally, Stella would take the passenger seat up front. But this time, Aicken opened the back door for her, leaving her no choice but to slide into the rear seats.

He joined her in the back, files in hand, diligently explaining every detail she might need to know.

Up front, Joshua drove in silence. Watching the two of them chat so animatedly in the rearview mirror, his jaw tightened and his lips pressed into a thin line. For all the world, he really did seem just like a chauffeur.

He barely said a word the entire drive.

Stella, engrossed in Aicken’s explanations about work, didn’t notice anything unusual about Joshua’s mood.

After about an hour, they arrived at the new company building.

Screech!

Startled, Stella blurted, “Joshua, what happened?”

Joshua answered calmly, “A cat just ran across the road.”

Stella didn’t think much of it. “Drive a little slower. We’re not in a hurry.”

“Alright.”

With the new company now in her hands, Stella’s schedule became packed. Her days were a blur of business meetings and marathon sessions in her office, buried in paperwork.

Joshua was her bodyguard, but even he couldn’t stay by her side twenty-four hours a day.
