The Day I Walked Away My Empire Began novel Chapter 184

Blood streamed from Mr. Heath’s nose, leaving his bodyguards in a panic.

“Mr. Heath, are you alright?”

Steven glanced at the blood on his hand, anger burning in his eyes. “What do you think?”

“Sir, let’s get you to a doctor right now!” one of the guards stammered.

“Then what are you waiting for?” Steven snapped.

The bodyguards scrambled, practically tripping over themselves to help him back upstairs.

In the ER, Steven’s big toe nail was turning a nasty shade of purple, his nose still bleeding nonstop. But honestly, that was nothing compared to the throbbing pain down below—so bad he nearly blacked out.

The doctor took one look and nearly jumped in shock. “Mr. Heath, what happened to you?”

Andy, the head of security, cut in quickly, “No time to explain, just treat him.”

“Of course.”

Outside, Shannon watched the chaos, torn between worry and anger. The only person who could hurt her brother like this and get away with it was Lucie. She’d just seen Steven chase Lucie into the elevator herself.

“Lucie, you bitch. You actually hurt Steven this badly?” Shannon muttered under her breath, seething.

But then she realized—Steven was injured this badly, and he still wouldn’t hold it against Lucie. If that didn’t mean he still loved her, what did?

“It’s so unfair. First Lucie, then Bria. Am I just never meant to be with him? No way. I can’t accept that. They don’t deserve him. Only I do.”

But Lucie and Bria were both tough to deal with. Shannon was so angry she could barely think straight. After a few minutes, a wicked idea popped into her head. “What if I can get them to fight each other? If they’re busy tearing each other apart, I’ll come out on top.

“They’re both stubborn. If they go at it, it’ll get ugly fast. Then all I have to do is wait for my chance.

“Yes, that’s it. Let them fight. If I’m lucky, they’ll both lose everything…”

A little later, Shannon rushed into Miranda’s hospital room, looking frantic. “Mrs. Heath, something terrible happened! Steven’s been hurt!”

“What?” Miranda, who had been sulking in bed, shot upright. “What happened to Steven?”

Shannon’s eyes filled with tears as she played up the drama. “Someone attacked him! He’s in the ER now, getting treated.”

Miranda’s face twisted with rage. “How is that possible? Who could hurt Steven?”

She jumped out of bed, ready to storm out. “What do we even pay those bodyguards for? The Heath family spends a fortune on security and my son still gets hurt? They’re all getting fired…”

Cursing under her breath, Miranda hurried out, barely bothering with her shoes. Shannon led the way. “He’s in the emergency room, just one floor down.”
