Belinda shot her a glance, "It's Christmas, for heaven's sake, don't bring that up."
Aurelia paid no attention, focusing on her food.
She had seen it all these days; the mockery, the sneering, the kicking when she was down.
It was the norm now.
Emma snickered, "Sure, Aurelia got divorced, but she got a mansion, a luxury car, and a billion-dollar fortune. What would I get if I divorced Ritchie?"
Perla shot her a scathing look. "She could have a son, could you? You got us only two daughters."
Before she finished speaking, Aurelia set her bowl down on the coffee table with a clatter.
"Perla, whether it's a son or a daughter is up to the man, not me. It's not that I can have a son, it's that my ex-husband could. If Emma can't have a son, it's my cousin's issue, not hers."
Perla's face turned ashen, "If she were replaced by another woman, we'd surely have a son."
"Enough," Belinda lounged on a chaise, munching on popcorn while a maid massaged her shoulders, "Whether it's a son or a daughter, as long as they can take care of you in your old age, they're not a waste. Times have changed, our family is halfway to nobility. Mind your manners, don't make a spectacle of yourself."
Despite Aurelia's divorce, Belinda got a fortune and this mansion. Not a bad deal!
She could live like a Duchess, being served and enjoying the finer things in life.
Perla pouted, "You're living the life, while Ritchie is out there slaving away. He even has to work on Christmas Eve."
Emma scoffed, "He's not working today, the property management is on holiday. Who knows where he's messing around."
Belinda held her hand, "Aurelia and Avery are successful, and Jelena is doing well too. It's just Ritchie who is a disappointment. I know Rahul's family has wronged you, but we're all family. Blood is thicker than water. Please help Ritchie as much as you can, consider it charity."
Jolin said, "Aurelia has already promoted Emma to team leader with a raise and bonus. The nanny for her kids is also arranged by Aurelia, and Emma doesn't have to pay. As for Ritchie, we wouldn't dare give him more money. Every time he gets paid, he either spends it on games or tips online influencers, not a penny comes home. Giving him more money would just benefit others."
Belinda sighed in despair, "It's such a tragedy."
Upstairs in a room, William, as the big brother, was playing LEGO with Emma's daughters, Margot and Bella.
Chirpy was in the center of the LEGO pieces, accurately fetching various parts with its beak.
Bella was too young to play LEGO and just wanted to play with Chirpy.
