Her son was so understanding, which broke her heart.
Jessica walked in from the door.
"Don't worry about Kane. I'll protect him." She presented a prenuptial agreement.
It specified that Megan could only officially become one of the Stirling family after Kane came of age. Any children she had before then would be considered illegitimate, with no rights to inheritance.
Aurelia bowed deeply. "Thank you for protecting Kane. I entrust him to your care."
She picked up the pen, took a deep breath, and signed her name on the divorce agreement.
She looked at Leopold, her resentment froze into an unmelting ice. Not even the divine flames could melt it.
"From now on, we have nothing to do with each other. Apart from life and death, there will never be a third possibility between us."
She said it with such finality and then walked out without a backward glance.
Leopold's shoulders shook, and his heart pounded violently. Each of her words stabbed into his heart, causing him pain and an overwhelming sense of fear.
He feared their relationship would become irreparable after she left.
This time, she truly hated his guts.
Her petite frame held an incredibly stubborn spirit, capable of saying and doing the harshest things.
Jessica sighed heavily, looking at her son.
"Sleep on it. Once a bond is broken, it may not be mended."
Aurelia never expected herself, a divorcee, to be so popular.
Well, she was a billionaire, a semi-elite by any standards.
"Aurelia, didn't you refuse to divorce before? Why did you suddenly change your mind?" Jelena asked, confused.
Aurelia shrugged. It wasn't a spur-of-the-moment decision but a carefully considered one.
"Do you believe in tarot cards? They're magic. Beverley drew for me again, I got the reversed Devil. It represents letting go and departure. I'm destined to leave this marriage and start a new life. It's fate. My connection to Leopold has ended, and any struggle is futile. We were bound to divorce sooner or later. I might as well decide sooner and spare myself the emotional torment."
A bitter smile appeared on her face. "I didn't want to save this marriage. I just wanted to protect my son, Kane. I was trying to negotiate with Leopold to take Kane with me. But Jessica had already considered my concerns and drafted a prenup for Leopold and Megan. In that case, Megan wouldn't dare harm Kane. Jessica is more capable of protecting Kane than I am."
She paused, then continued, "After the divorce, I'll get a billion-dollar estate. The money is all mine, and I can use it however I want. Money talks. I won’t have trouble getting someone to deal with Megan. If she dares lay her fingers on Kane, I'll kill her at any cost!"
