Leopold sank back into the couch, legs crossed, arms stretched out along the backrest. He looked like a devil rogue, exuding an icy aura.
"Do you seriously think I'd only have one woman, even Aurelia wouldn't dare to dream that. The men of the Stirling clan have always enjoyed a harem, and me, the head of the family, with only one woman? That would be a laughingstock!"
Megan's face blanched then flushed. She had thought that getting rid of Aurelia would secure her position as the young lady of the Stirling family. She hadn't expected a whole den of vixens lurking behind her.
Melissa looked confused, "Leopold, don't you love Megan? How can you bear to hurt her? For a woman, a man's infidelity is the deepest cut."
Leopold's eyes narrowed, an icy glint in his gaze that was rather unsettling.
"I was fond of Aurelia, but that didn't stop me from having other women. A man's emotions and needs can be separated. Different women offer different pleasures."
Megan gritted her teeth in silence. Fine, she could play along for now. Once Aurelia was out of the picture and she secured her place as the young lady of the Stirling family, she would deal with these vixens one by one.
She wouldn't allow any other woman besides her in Leopold's life.
"I... I'll learn to tolerate," but she could only say so at this time.
Just then, the bedroom door opened and Katie, in a sultry nightgown, sauntered out.
She plopped down next to Leopold without a second thought, clearly accustomed to his company.
In a cooing voice, she asked, "Mr. Leopold, are you really replacing your wife? Aurelia is so nice. She treats us like sisters and even gives us presents for Christmas. What if you bring in a devil woman who wouldn't tolerate us?"
Leopold broke into a satisfied smile, "If there's nothing else, you may leave."
Megan left, feeling dejected. She couldn't help but suspect that Leopold was acting this way on purpose, pretending to be a libertine to deter her. After all, he used to be a man of restraint.
She wouldn't be so foolish as to let him manipulate her.
Once they were in the car, she turned to Melissa, "Melissa, Leopold wasn't like this before. He never showed any interest in women other than me. Why has he changed?"
Melissa wasn't surprised at all, considering she grew up in the Stirling family where polygamy was the norm.
"There's no changing it, our Stirling genes for philandering are ingrained. He was restrained before because he was young. Then he was poisoned and physically incapable of indulging in any romantic endeavors. It's natural that he'd explode after being pent up for so long."
