The CEO's Unplanned Heir novel Chapter 375

A chill crept up from the soles of Aurelia's feet.

She was almost certain this wasn't her hallucination. She was completely sane, with no mental issues to speak of.

There was only one explanation – she had seen a ghost!

It must have been there for Leopold, not her. She wanted to ask Leopold if he had seen it, but choked on her words at the last moment.

If she were to bring it up suddenly, Leopold would likely get upset.

Drawing the curtains, she followed Leopold back to their room.

The next day, after breakfast, Nina and Mira came for Kane and William. They had planned to go crab hunting on the rocky beach together.

Aurelia sat on a nearby beach chair, keeping an eye on the children while she painted.

Arnold walked by and glanced at her canvas.

She was painting a woman in red, but only the body. The face was left blank.

"Who's that you're painting?" he asked curiously.

Aurelia put down her paintbrush, giving him a reserved yet meaningful look.

"Do you believe in ghosts?"

Her voice was so soft that only Arnold heard her.

Arnold was taken aback, thinking she was joking, and adopted a teasing tone, "I've never seen one. I guess they're afraid of me, so they don't dare come near."

Aurelia's gaze fell back on her painting. "I saw one last night."

Arnold was visibly shaken, his eyes quickly moving to the faceless woman on the canvas, "You're painting... a ghost?"

Aurelia didn't answer, picking up her paintbrush to fill in the woman's features.

Arnold was shocked, his eyes widened in surprise, "Is this... Megan?"

Lizzy was starting to question her own charm!

"Aurelia is deep in conversation with Arnold. She has no sense of propriety. You better watch out, you don't want her to make a fool of you again." Lizzy said.

"If you don’t know what to say, shut up." Leopold's gaze turned icy, and he walked away, leaving a trail of chill in the air.

Lizzy couldn't help but shiver, her mouth wide open in shock.

As Leopold approached, Aurelia quickly folded her painting so he wouldn't see the "ghost" on it.

Leopold noticed her subtle movement but didn't say anything. He walked up to her and put his arm around her shoulder, "Join me for a walk by the sea?"

"Alright," Aurelia nodded and followed him.

Arnold's heart ached. He knew clearly that Aurelia was now Leopold's wife, his sister-in-law. Unless they both were free, there was no chance for them to be together again.

Despite his deep love for her, he could only suppress it.
