The Billionaire's True Heiress From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 594

People like that are the ones who should be sold off!

“But Hayley, that rough stone? It actually yielded top-quality jade. Its value soared,” Claire said, not wanting to hide the truth.

“Really?” Hayley’s surprise was genuine. She obviously had no clue that stone could be worth anything. She’d always thought of it as a memory from her dad, nothing more. It was something she held onto out of sentiment, never thinking it would make her rich.

“Yeah, turns out it was a pure, bright green jadeite. Even being conservative, this is what it’s worth.”

Claire held up six fingers. “Sixty million, at the very least.”

She expected Hayley to look regretful, maybe even heartbroken at her luck. But Hayley was only stunned for a second. Then she smiled, easy and open. “Guess that means my dad actually had pretty good taste. And you too, Claire.”

There was nothing greedy or bitter in her eyes. Just calm acceptance. Claire couldn’t help but admire that. Maybe Hayley’s family used to be well off, or at least her parents were honest, decent people. Otherwise, how could they have raised someone like her?

“Roth said you might want to see what came out of that stone. We brought it with us. Do you want to take a look?” Claire asked gently.

Hayley’s curiosity lit up her face. “That’d be nice. Thank you, Claire.” She’d hidden that stone away for years, sometimes wondering what was inside, but she’d never had the heart to actually risk opening it. It had turned into a family treasure. Letting it go had stung, if she was honest with herself. She didn’t even manage to pass it on to her son, since every cent had to go into her treatments. She really, truly wanted to see the kind of jade that had been hidden inside.

Claire understood her mood. She opened the door and took the box from Dewitt’s bodyguard, bringing it over to Hayley and flipping open the lid.
