The Billionaire's True Heiress: From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 336

“By not fighting or competing, we end up with more.”

“Trust me, don’t do anything stupid.”

Shirley could only stare, lost for words. Seriously, trying to talk things out with these people was pointless. She’d be better off tracking down Claire.

“I want to go out to the country and see Claire,” Shirley blurted.

Patti looked at her like she’d grown an extra head. “Have you lost your mind?”

“Did you miss the part where Octavia can’t stand Claire?”

“If you run out there, Octavia will make sure Latham makes life miserable for your dad at work.”

“Just stay out of it for once, will you?”

Shirley’s glare was stubborn. “Why can’t I visit her?”

“You want to see her, but that doesn’t mean she wants to see you. The two of you never got along, remember? If you show up, she’ll probably just ignore you. Or worse, she’ll set the country dogs loose on you. Then what? Those dogs aren’t like your little Fluffy, you know. They’re mean.”

Patti shook her head. “Don’t get any strange ideas. You and Claire were never close, not even as kids.”

Shirley shrugged it off. “We’re not in each other’s way anymore. Maybe we'll get along now.”

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Haven’t you heard that, Mom?”

“So who’s your enemy, exactly? Why do you always have to make everything about sides?” Patti pressed.

Even if Cindy just came back from the countryside, she was still Octavia’s favorite. The way Shirley was acting, Patti seriously worried she’d end up making Octavia mad.

Shirley opened her mouth, but closed it again. There was no way she was going to say out loud that she and Cindy liked the same guy—York. Honestly, she didn’t even care that much about York these days. No need to share that with her mom.

After lunch, she picked up her phone and dialed Claire.
