The Billionaire's True Heiress From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 241

"Agassi ran off with Melissa without even asking me. How am I supposed to accept a son-in-law like that?" Padgett was fuming.

Norris stayed quiet.

Owen, who was never really afraid of Padgett, just shrugged and asked, "Grandpa, so if you don't accept Agassi, do you at least accept your granddaughter?"

Owen’s dad, Bishop, shot him a look. "Enough. Be quiet."

Padgett was just angry and venting, wasn’t it obvious? Owen was just stirring the pot.

"The kid's innocent. Why wouldn’t I accept her?" Padgett replied, sounding absolutely certain.

No one dared argue with him.

With his dad glaring, Owen clamped his mouth shut and didn’t say another word.

Padgett waved them off. "If she’s not coming until tomorrow, you all can go home."

But who was actually going to leave?

Norris’s mom, Ophelia, spoke up. "Dad, let’s stay tonight. Since the girl’s coming, we should get her room ready."

There were maids, but as the lady of the house, Ophelia wanted to make sure everything was perfect herself. She was determined that Claire would feel at home.

Padgett glanced at Ophelia with clear approval. "You always think things through."

Caleb’s wife, Karla, joined in. "I’ll help you set up. She’s the only girl in our generation, after all. Let’s make sure she’s comfortable. The winter camp’s first round is over, right? Is she on break? I hope she can stay in Cabinda for the holidays."

Padgett’s eyes lit up. "Exactly. Decorate the room nicely. You two are so thoughtful."

“Is it expensive?” Linsey asked, worrying about the money in her pocket. She’d heard the place was popular.

“I can treat everyone. I got first place in the last round, so I have to celebrate,” Claire said, picking up on Linsey’s concern. She smiled. “You’re not going to deny me the chance to treat, are you?”

Leo jumped in right away, “Hey, I made it to the next round too. I’ll pitch in.”

Everyone knew most kids from Silverpeak International College had money, so no one was surprised Claire and Leo were offering to pay.

Still, Len glanced at Claire, a little worried. Wasn’t she kicked out of the James family? How much money could she even have left? He’d heard her grandma lived way out in the countryside.

“Are you sure?” Len tugged at Claire’s sleeve.

Claire gave him a wink. “Don’t worry, I’ve got it covered.”
