Elowen rubbed her chubby little hands over her bleary eyes. Squinting hard, she finally saw the sight clearly.
Someone was indeed sleeping on her bed, and it wasn't just anyone—it was her mom!
Her eyes sparkled with surprise, lighting up as she could barely contain her excitement, exclaiming with pure joy.
"Wow, Mommy! It's really you, Mommy!"
Thalassa was jolted awake by jubilant cries. Opening her eyes and lifting her head, she was greeted by a round, squishy little face, beaming with an uncontrollable smile, curiously and happily looking back at her.
"Elowen, you're awake," Thalassa said as she sat up.
Elowen's cute little form wriggled into her mother's embrace, her head burrowing into Thalassa's chest, her voice a mix of glee and a hint of whining.
"Mommy, Daddy said you were gone yesterday, and me and the others were super worried about you. Did Daddy bring you back?"
Her soft voice nearly melted Thalassa's heart. She had always known her little ones loved her dearly, and if anything happened to her, they would be the first to worry.
Just as she poured all her love into her children, they returned it in kind.
This mutual love was incredibly healing.
Thalassa had gone through a dark time yesterday, but today she was holding warmth in her arms.
"Yes, honey, Daddy found me. Don't worry, Mommy's fine now," Tessa reassured her, holding Elowen close and gently patting her back.
"Mmm, can you stay with us at Royal Estates from now on? That way Daddy and we can protect you. No bad guys will take you away again," Elowen lifted her head from her mother's embrace, her eyes serious yet adorably earnest.
Thalassa's lips curved into a tender smile, "Well, Mommy has to work, sweetie."
"Mommy, let's go outside. The others don't know you're back yet. They'll be so happy to see you!" Elowen clumsily clambered out of bed, reaching for Thalassa's hand.
Thalassa slipped into her slippers and followed her out of the room.
The other three little tykes were already seated at the table, spoons in hand, bibs tied around their necks, ready for breakfast.
Seeing Thalassa emerge with Elowen, they paused for a second before their eyes lit up. Spoons were dropped, and they scrambled down from their chairs, racing towards Thalassa.
"Mommy!"
"Mommy!"
"Wah, Mommy!" Sophia cried out as she ran, tears streaming down her face in excitement.
